I've just been to ASDA. Why am I sharing this you might ask...I tried to buy 3 tins of Cow & Gate powdered formula only to me told I am only allowed 2. I asked why and the cashier didn't know. I went to customer services and was told it was because Japan has dirty water and so the manufacturers were sending a supply over to help. I could understand this if it was the ready-made mix which doesn't need water. Something didn't add up so I searched online and found this news article... hrmmmm...

Anyone else been limited?

It's the same here too and in York when we visited x

Yep it's UK wide as people were buying up supplies to send 'home' if you catch my drift. Mainly to China and other far eastern block countries.

Limited to 2 tins at a time/per day, so you can go back tomorrow and get 2 more if you wanted.

Just done an online Asda order and the same rule applies (I use Aptamil), but I'd already heard about it on this forum and I got an email about it from Cow and Gate. Some idiots on Amazon had Aptamil powder on at 20 quid when I last looked. There seems to be no limits on the liquid versions. I'd be more scuppered by a limit on the liquid versions to be honest, as I use liquid Aptamil for night feeds and whenever I go out anywhere..it would make a big difference to me having to do ALL powder.

Yes same here (southeast uk). Has been for a while too.

This has been the case for over a month now. Weeks and weeks ago places like Boots were selling out. Each time I've been recently they have full shelves but the 2 tins rule applies still.

Over a month ago people were selling the tins on eBay for so much more because stores were running out.

I don't think we have a limit here in Australia. I have purchased 3 at once before at my local pharmacy. (Aptamil Gold +) xx

ETA: I did hear about the formula being shipped off to China though but that was a few months back.

It's been around for quite a while now and is UK wide, and was very much in the news when the decision was passed. People were fretting about empty shelves of formula so tins of it were going for 3/4x's as much on eBay.

It's also nothing to do with water, it's that the countries it was being shipped to do not have faith in their own powdered formula, therefore want the brands we have.

My friend last time she bought got 2 from Tesco, 2 from Boots & 2 from Superdrug. They are within walking distance of each other. It's not hard to get more than 2 if you want it.

^^ yep, boots super drug mothercare and tescos are all within the same mall so not too much of a problem here either

I didn't realise I was so far behind in knowing about this! Maybe it happened originally before my LO was born.

No it was announced about 2 months back, as a result of baby formula in china causing serious illness there is a huge market there for uk formula shipped over. It can sell
For £40 a tin.
My sister flys long haul for ba and is always approached by staff at Beijing airport asking her to bring formula over.
If you join aptaclub or cow and gate club then send email updates letting you know the changes.
