Hey girls.
A brief history first.
-2004 I was in a car crash which resulted in a coma and in a life threatening state.
- Periods stopped after the accident for 2.5 years but that wasn't a priority due to other injuries being much more important.
- Sent for tests, scans etc and they couldn't find a problem but diagnosed it as PCOS saying they can't find anything else wrong.
- Put on metformin but I didn't want a baby so I then went on the pill and stopped the metformin. This was 2007.
- Came off pill 2012 and had 3 regular cycles but then periods have stopped and not had one since.
- Dr referred me to endocrinologist for PCOS who wrote a letter to the dr to put me on metformin and then up dosage if no period and then next stage would be clomid.
- I moved home so went to new dr for metformin and it took phone calls back and forth to hospital for the dr to eventually agree. This was finally in Feb 2014.
- I am temping and metformin had an effect and looks like I tried to ovulate but my body didn't quite manage. Then temps levelled off as they have been since my period in 2012.
- I had another appointment and asked to be referred to gynocology at as dr won't give clomid and I know the waiting list here is several months. So I know I need to give metformin longer but wanted to be on the waiting list while I continue. But they refused.
- Still taking metformin now and I have upped the dosage myself as 2 500mg pills wasn't enough for my body. I am now on 3 500mg pills.
- I have an appointment on Monday and I want to be referred.
So my question is what is the normal referral time in the UK? Am I going to have to be on metformin a year or more before they will refer me?
Will going back to the dr month after month pushing for one help me?
My last dr who I had since 2 years old said I really needed to be trying and seeking help before I am 28 years old due to the injuries from crash and how long things take with fertility treatment. I am 28 in 5 months and that is why I am pushing for referral now.
Thanks girls xx
