UK tests - Educate me please?

I'm am American and so a lot of the tests I'm seeing pictures for are tests I'm clueless about, like one that's a think strip with arrows pointing to one end that says MAX. I know all the tests available in American stores, but nothing about the HPTs and OPKs in Europe. So can you Brits/Scots/rest (those aren't offensive terms, are they? not meant to be, if they are) please fill me in on what I don't know about your tests? Pics of what they look like and what they're called, and if they're mid-stream tests you pee on of the kind where you pee in a cup and drop a few drops into a well? I'd really like to easily be able to tell if I'm looking at an OPK or an HPT, but I'm not at all familiar with your tests and already once mistook an OPK for being an HPT!!

In my experience scots like to be counted as brits aswell (no offence taken, im english living in Scotland and discovered this lol)

Our OPKS, the thin strip ones tend to have green handles and HPTs have blue handles, the ones ive used haven been ebay cheapie ones where you pee in a cup then dip the stick in up to the "max" line.

The other kind of HPT test ive used is a shop brand one (Asda/Wal mart) and is one of those where you can pee straight onto it and you put a cover over the bit youve pee'd on (less mess )

I can see your confusion with the dipstick tests, if you dont know the colours then they are easy to mix up.

Sorry, I have no idea what different regions like to be referred as. I'll learn. No offense meant if I get something wrong!

So that's what the max thingy's for! I think there's an internet cheapie version available here that you dip. The HPTs I use you pee in a cup and use a dropper to drop 4 drops in a little well.

Is that second one the Equate test? It looks an awful lot like it.

The first kind you showed - is that the most common type used? I see pictures of those all over this site. To think, there's a huge markup to put that strip in a plastic holding case so you can pee right on it! And yes, the handle colors help clear that up a LOT. Thanks!

The second one isnt Equate, we dont have those over here but its possibly the same casing design.
the dropper ones ive only ever come across once and that was a looong time ago, i think theyre a brand thats not too popular because of evaps.

The first one is quite common yea, for poas addicts theyre easily avalaible over the net very cheap, easier to keep testing over a series of days if you needed to (i did lol)
