The mother of our unborn daughter has came out of a hospital check up and said that they think the baby might have caught a chest infection, as she has been ill herself. She really isn't telling me much and its just playing on my mind like mad... Is this something that is serious or fairly common? She's on a two week course of anti biotics and said they think she should be fine, but as I'm really not getting much information at all I wondered if an of you could reassure me that it's something easily treated/common to get in babies with two months to go? Thanks in advance.

someone correct me if im wrong but i dont think a unborn child can get a chest infection??

Absolute bullshit I'm sorry. They diagnose chest infections in people by listening to them breathing (air, not amniotic fluid), taking sputum samples, doing chest xrays, bloods etc. All of which you can not do on an unborn child. What's she playing at? Just wants your attention I think.

Also giving anyone 2 weeks of antibiotics doesn't sound right for a chest infection sounds more like what they give for a urine infection.

Just saying

get yourself a bit more info on it, sounds like someones playing games.

I could be wrong but I've never heard of an unborn baby catching a chest infection from the mother...seems like she wants sympathy/possible more attention from you

yeah def not possible im afraid!

She might have a urine infection but doesnt want to tell you that... who knows

I'm a children's nurse and I can assure you that it is NOT possible for a baby to get a chest infection while still in utero! Sounds like she is trying to get some sympathy. Or she has something she doesn't want to tell you about. I would defo quiz her some more.
