Understanding ovulation ?? Help!!

Hi ladies basically I have been reading a lot about trying for either a boy or girl and we are looking into trying for a girl in 6 months

Only problem is I am now off my pill (last pill was taken 10th feb and had my bleed 2 days later starting the 12th which only lasted for about 2-3 days)..

I am taking ovulation strips every day which are slowly getting darker but really when do I start counting ? And does it matter how long the bleed was ?

It says in my book to dtd the day my period ends and then 6 days before ovulation ......

Blondbabe, you count your first day of the cycle (cd1) as the first day of proper bleeding. It doesn't matter how long the bleeding lasted, the only thing that matters is when it was the 1st day.
You don't need to use opk from day 1, they usually become positive upto 48 hrs before ovulation, so if on avg a wonen ov around day 14, then she should test a few days befor that, since you came off the pill you can start around 5 days before? Cd9. And twick your dates once you get to know your cycles better (or not if you hoefully get your bfp soon . )
But you need to remember that your body might go through some adjustment now that is not on the pill, so once you start testing, keep doing it untill you get a positive.
I would recomend you to start temping since it is the only way you can be sure you ovulated (opk will show you you had an LH surge, but this doesn't necesarily mean that you ovulated). Most of ladies here opened a free account at fertilityfriend.com to track their temperature, and the site has all the information you need to understand why it is a good idea to temp and tons of charts to compare yours to!
I think is great you are starting to understand your cycles before ttc.
