Hi all!

It has seemed to be a long road so far 17months ttc and nothing!! Although I have had bloods taken and cameras and lap and dye test, biopsy. OH has had sperm analysis. All these have come back and showed no problems appart from a suspected cyst which I went in to have removed and then when they conducted the operation it had fallen off or disappeared?? A week ago we went back to hospital where the gynae said our situation was referred to as 'unexplained infertility' and the next step to take was a course of 50mg clomid. I have temped for months and am not sure that I ovulate monthly (each cycle) I purchased a cbfm and that never pinpointed ovulation. So I have been paranoid that I have annovultary cycles for a while!! I began taking these clomid tablets last monday and have taken the fith today. So I have taken them days 4 - 8. Just wondered whether anyone else is going through anything similar?? I have told my OH that I should be all egged up and raring to go soon!!! haha!! Lets hope so!!!

Hope there is someone out there who I can share my ttc experience with and they can with me - it would be sooooo helpful. It gets you so down, but trying to be positive :baby:

Hey! I'm in the same boat - kinda. I'm also unexplained infertility, we've been trying for a few years. I did get a BFP after my HSG teast in Oct 2010, but it ended in miscarriage. No other positive tests since, so my Dr. put me on Clomid. I am currently on round #5 of 6, did 3 rounds at 50 mg, and now 3 more rounds at 100 mg.

The first month I didn't really have many side effects, but as the months wore on, I'm really struggling with bloating and hot flashes.

How are you feeling?

I listened to a podcast the other day about unexplained infertility. The moderators were saying that unexplained infertility is often autoimmune related. Especially if you have an autoimmune type disease. I have psoriasis--which is an autoimmune disease. I saw a specialist in Houston this week and he agreed this could be the problem. He agreed most "unexplained infertility" is actually immune related. He has degrees from Harvard and Yale. I worked hard to find him.

Wish I knew more -- but I just started delving into this a few days ago.

The podcast was "creating a family" and it was the "unexplained infertility" podcast in 2009--you can find it on itunes. Often the autoimmune disease results in miscarriages instead of failure to conceive, but it can also include failure to conceive depending on how advanced your autoimmune is. You may not even realize you have this problem, although another autoimmune disease is a tell-tale sign.

There's also a forum about it on inciid.com.

Hope this helps. I know how frustrated you are. I feel like I could come to terms with the infertility, if they could just give me a reason. If you find anything else on this you find helpful, please let me know. I'm in the process of getting information on this now.

Next I'm on the hunt for a reproductive immunologist.

Thanks for the quick replies guys! I am feeling fine apart from headaches and sensitivity to light, but I teach young children so not sure if that could be the culprit!! Cartaw - thanks I will definitely have a listen to that!! I dont have any diseases that I am aware - only asthma (not a disease I know!!) Sounds like you are keeping very busy with all these different people. I did think about a herbalist - not sure!! I will see how the next 4 rounds of clomid go and hopefully we can all support each other along the road!
Thanks loads, Louise

Hi Louise I am also unexplained (secondary) for two and a half years. I have been on clomid for four previous cycles now I am doing clomid +IUI Like Zimmy my side effects are getting worse as the months go on.

Cartaw that is sooooo interesting!!! I get psoriasis too, not terrible at the moment but it does flare up often enough to be annoying. I never considered a link between the two. I will look into it. Thanks
