Hi there,
I am only CD21 but got a faint line on an ic this morning. I have had two 5 and 6 week mc's in the last year and my gp prescribed aspirin and prednisone (only one tablet a day so fairly low dose) if I got a bfp after testing on CD26/27. Im a testing fiend so couldn't resist a cd21 test! My question is whether anyone else has taken aspirin and prednisone to support pregnancy at early stage and should I be waiting til CD26/27 or just start now?

I didn't take prednisone but I'm still on low dose baby aspirin. Started before my bfp. No ill effects.

I would say you should start now as the baby is implanting now and you wouldn't want any immune issues interfering with that! Are you in the UK??? I've had 3 losses now last one 7 weeks ago at 7 weeks.. I was going to start taking aspirin if I got a bfp again off my own back but seeing a gp has prescribed you both makes me think it might be worth me speaking to my gp?? What dose of pred will you be on and for how long?? Hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months xx good luck

I've had sixteen miscarriages and a stillbirth recurrently (another stillbirth prior to that too) and I was put on aspirin all the time and then prednisone (25mg) from ovulation for my last pregnancy, it's the only one I've started that early (I had other drugs too) and eleven days ago I gave birth to my little man after seven years of loses. My advice would be don't worry about it being too early xx

Isaac many gp's will give aspirin out (but the advice from the miscarriage association is that it should only be given if you have a clotting disorder) but not many will give out prednisone because steroids come with lots of risks and require extra growth scans through pregnancy plus not many agree on their worth in pregnancy. I would push for recurrent loss testing, although technically you don't fall under recurrent loss I would say that pushing due to three out of four pregnancies being loses will help x hugs x

I take prednisolone 15mg at the minute, for my own lungs and i've been told they're fine

Is that long term Kerrie?

Thanks for the info tasha! Wow 16 miscarriages that's a crazy awful number of them you have had to endure, poor you. So pleased you have completed your family now though! Your right I haven't had 3 consecutive miscarriages but I do seem to have a higher risk than normal either that or incredibly bad luck. I have had a miscarriage followed by ds and then infertilty for over 2 years! Had treatment which resulted in twins we lost one and have a ds who is almost one. Then we lost another few weeks back unplanned pregancy. Anyway I am almost sure I know what issues are as I have had thyroid issues after both my pregnancies he first time it went back to normal but this time have had to go on medication. I have positive thyroid antibodies which can cause infertilty and increase miscarriage risk. All this i have found put on my own, not one doctor has ever flagged it up although we had investigations into infertility! A miscarriage clinic in London which is far too expensive for me to go to recommends aspirin, prednisolone and levothyroxine ( which I'm on anyway) as treatment for these antibodies. If I could get my gp to listen to me I was hoping he could prescribe. I will have to have a think about what to do! X

What levels are they aiming to keep your thyroid at? A friend on here has thyroid issues and many doctors say one thing but the specialist actually says lower so that may well be the issue.

Private testing and appointments are ridiculous prices. I went private twice and it is just unaffordable. Have you spoken to your GP about referral?

I was on 45mg of pred and 75 of baby aspirin before both pregnancies.

Well this is also what I have done a lot if research in tasha! Dr's including endos at ehappy as long it's below the normal range which is 0.3-4.5 but I have been self medicating going by my results as I know for fertility it's best to be below 2 and ideally 1! When I got our suprise bfp I was running slightly hyper Tsh 0.5 and I think this is why I fell pregnant. Before it was treated when I was trying for few years it was always 2.5-2.9 ish but with having positive antibodies suggested I had an underlying thyroid issue all along. Makes me so mad as nobody has seemed to know what on earth they are talking about and whenever I mentioned anything they would just poo poo my ideas! Well low and behold 9 months after my 2nd ds was born before without trying, 2 months ntnp we get a bfp. Shocked but happy and then sadly lost it! I was being overtreated as they increased my meds too soon and I ended up really unwell with some nasty symptoms and then went onto have a miscarriage! I will talk to my gp about what I think is going on I have been right so far with my concerns I know my body too well! After more than halfing my dose of meds from 125mcg -50mcg I soon started feeling better and stayed on that until I had more bloods done at 6 weeks my tsh went from 0.3 to 2 so I just popped myself back up to 75 and will recheck in 6-12 weeks depending how well I feel! I don't listen to Dr's now and just do my own thing. They were trying to tell me that my tsh was normal and writing off my dreadful symptoms! Assholes x

I've been on a low dose of pred for years, (between 3mg and 10mg) including this and last pregnancy and all is fine! Hope it helps for you xx

Thanks for the advice all. Looks to like it's not happening for me now anyway.
