unsure what to do about benefits

I have been looking into how long the ssmg takes to be processed on other forums, just to get an idea.

Well i noticed alot of ladies having problems.

Now they where claiming JSA just like i am and was told they had to change to IS when 29wks, just like i have.

Now obvioulsy this is when u send your ssmg form off.

These ladies have recieved letters back saying they dont qualify for the ssmg as at the time of change over they are not getting JSA or IS.

I dont know what to do, i REALLY need the ssmg asap due to financial issues but i also have to change over to IS and dont want them saying i dont qualify then have to reapply and it take even longer.

Does anyone have any experiance or advice on what i should do???

I'm sorry - can't help but honestly they are really tight about the sure start grant - I really REALLY could do with it too (absolutly NO money to prepare for baba!!!) but it ain't gonna happen for me til after shes born All cause I live with OH (yet he's only on 10k a year!!!! Hardly rolling in it are we hahaha!) I'm not entitled to it until baby gets here and we can go on tax credits! They are arseholes - the system really doesn't make sense cause its supposed to be there to help you PREPARE :S Best thing you can do is probably just get in touch with job centre and keep banging heads together til you get anywhere - good luck! x

Hun you need to wait until the IS is approved, Because if its in the middle they wont give you the ssmg grant incase the IS is then not granted.

Get your IS sent off soon as you can hun, Then give it a couple days & ring them to see whether they have it & if its been accepted, If they say its been accepted just ask if the award letter has been sent, Once the letter is sent get your ssmg sent.
Make sure you have it all signed & ready hun then you can just post it, My ssmg took 8days from posting it to receiving it hun so it may be quick x
