After a few conversations on the phone with the tax credit people (Four award letters now lol) I thought when the last one arrived today it would be sorted. When i first asked for the form on the phone they guestimated i would get about £40 a week till i went back to work

The first one they took last years earnings even tho i included in the application all the info relating to my being off on SMP like i was asked and told i was getting £4 :haha:

the second was after i phoned and explained again my SMP amount etc saying i was getting £8 a week

the third letter arrived in the 2nd post on the same day as the second showing the figures i used as my SMP amounts on the original form showing £40 a week,

On closer inspection the second letter was actually dated after the third so the £8 amount was the current one, it seems the figures had gone in the system but my then phoning after the first letter messed it all up and reset it. :dohh:

SO i phoned one last time explained what happened gave all my figures AGAIN, and was told for the first time, that they deduct SMP from the amount they use anyway and they didnt know why that hadnt happened in the first place.

My new letter says im getting a little under £10 WTC and £60 CTC each week.

MY dilemma is that it seems quite high, but we are REALLY broke as my wage is our main income. We had to borrow £300 to pay the rent last month. I know i didnt lie or deceive them so should i just accept it and if it does work out ive been overpaid pay it back in april when im back at work (I can afford to do that no probs on my full wage)

I feel bad about it lol like im stealing or something but we really need the money.

thanks if you got this far.

any thoguhts?

I'd say that about right. Me and my partner work earning £17000 between us a year. We get 25 a week WTC & 222 a month CTC

As long as they have the right information i'd leave it you've told them the truth

You've told them everything so don't worry, It'll be their fault if they happened to overpay you.

Tbh though, I don't know how much you normally earn a year but £60 ctc sounds about right to me..

xxx

my oh earns 17000 and when we where just getting for 1 child we got around £6 wtc and 59 ctc a week x
