I found out a couple weeks ago that I had an inversion of one of my chromosome 10s. I read some of the academic literature and it sounded like this particular issue could be nothing...
We went to the genetic counselor today and she confirmed that we have nothing to worry about! Phew...we are SOOO relieved.
Turns out that this inversion is one of a handful of known inversions that have been passed down through some families of northern European descent and that we are all descended from the same person! That's just crazy. It would be an interesting genealogical study to trace family that far back, but anyway, this means that it's a non-issue.
The BAD part about this is that we're back to ground zero in determining if there's a cause for my 2 miscarriages. On to more testing!
(I think there's a small possibility I'm pregnant again--will know in a week. We were a bit risky at ovulation last week and I just have a "feeling" which proved correct before!)
