We get them back tomorrow morning but I have another appointment I have to go to so I can't be there! :(

I'm really upset about it!
Makes me feel a little out of control. . . . . .

Will my OH get given a 'Copy' of all the results or should I get him to ask for the FS to write them down for us?

What will the results come back as?

Is it just:

Count
Morphology
Motility

xxxxx

hey sorry you can't make appointment tommorrow. What you've written is right, main areas are count, morphology and motility. Hopefully all is okay and you don't need results but if anything lower than normal could get husband to remember it or write it down.

That's unfortunate. I have no idea how the results are communicated but we are getting ours tomorrow too and so I guess I will find out. All along I have dreaded that OH would get results without me and he would just say something like "they were OK" or "they weren't OK"! I would ask if OH can write them down or make a special effort to remember exactly what fs says if I were you. Above all, good luck, I hope you have nothing to worry about in that department. X

So long as you ask for volume, count, morphology and motility they are the main criteria - if you look up the WHO guidelines you will be able to figure out where you fall into it and you can take it from there.

Hope the results are good for you but if there is anything to worry about please don't - apparently 98% of men who had abnormal results on their first test had 'normal' levels on the second - stress, diet, lifestyle can all impact on the results as can nerves. Bizarrely the more 'turned on' you are when you ejaculate, has a big effect on the number of swimmers you release!

You'll be fine - good luck x

Sure will! X

If your hubby is anything like mine - make sure he asks FS to write it down - in fact I would ask anyway - it's so hard to remember all the different figures and what they relate to.

Good luck x

Hi Guys,

I don't know about everyone else but I just picked the results up from my GP with no appointment to discuss them or anything. On reflection this was a really bad idea as I opened the rsults without having anyone there to explain anything at all! I also picked them up while hubby was at work so I had to try to give him the news (Which was not good!).

I got a piece of paper with the following:

Volume
pH
Viscosity
Sperm Conc.
Total Sperm count
Motility
Rapid
Sluggish
Non-progressive
Non-motile
Vitality
Agglutination
Aggression
Normal forms

There was also a note on the bottom of the form giving the normal values so there was something to compare. I still dont really know what some of the values mean. Our results gave us a vitality of 46% and negative agglutination and aggression. I have no idea what these figures mean. We are going to make an appointment to see dh's GP this week.

I hope that has helped?
Rachelle1975 - Is it true about the 98%? That has really cheered me up!!

Yep - we got a leaflet from the hospital that stated the facts! There was a girl on here, Anna, they had very low count, next thing you know he has 200 million and she is preggers! It does happen and the miracle stories make everyone have hope :happydance:

Taking a good multi vit if you are a man such as Wellman can help too - although DH has a crap count - he has good quality bless him :haha:

Well we got them back, OH didn't ask him to write it down, I'm not suprisd :growlmad:

He said that they're excellent swimmers but there's just not as many as is considered normal.
It's only a tiny amount under and that there are enough there that I should be getting pregnant.

So where does this leave us. . . . ?
I should be getting pregnant all the time and I'm not *sigh*

He's doing another two samples in August and we get the results back on September 9th.

I just hope I've got a blocked tube :(
I need to book my HSG but the X-Ray department won't answer their frggin phone!!! :(

xx

Eep! I forgot to add that the reason he has a lower count is because he has a slight obstruction in one of his testicles caused by a cycst he had when he was a kid. . . . he never asked what they were going to do about it though :dohh:

xx

Hi. At least you are having further tests - I am certain you will make sure that you are there for the next set of results!!! Doesn't sound like too much of a concern though? Re the HSG, FS said to me that the chances of conception are higher afterwards, even if no blockage is found, so that's something. I am sorry to say that I was more hopeless than your OH; we were told our SA was fine and I didn't query it at all. Most unlike me but it just wasn't the kind of meeting where you feel free to ask as many q's as you want. The next step for me is clomid starting early August. X

Well I think it should be good news but I don't feel like it's good at all. . . .
He's home now and says that he doesn't have a low count just lower than he could have
And that they're not going to do anything about the obstruction :(

xx

Well try and concentrate on the possibility that the HSG will help you for now - did you make your appointment yet? September will come around soon enough, and it really does sound to me like the SA results are pretty much where they sould be - maybe there is no need to move the obstruction, perhaps they think it will do more harm than good? Sending positive vibes and baby dust... X

Thanks hopes fading :flower:

I got hold of my FS receptionist and she said they normally wait three months after a MC to do a HSG :(

However I'm going to ring back tomorrow and if that's the case then I'm going to try to get my appointment brought forward.
It's not until 31st August and all I'm waiting for is blood tests and ultrasound results back which were both taken 12 weeks ago!! :dohh:

xx

Hi maaybe,
Hope you're well!
What were his numbers, out of interest?
:hugs:

Hi maaybe. Do you mean bring the FS appt. forward? I think that's a good plan if they will oblige; if you have test results to get then I understand your not wanting to wait any longer. X

He never got them :growlmad:
I want to know them too!!!

He never got given ANY numbers :(

Sorry you're not feeling great about today. Could you phone the clinic / hospital and ask them for the numbers for hubby's SA? Just tell them that you weren't able to be at the appt and hubby forgot to get the details. Even if it meant putting hubby on the phone, they can't withold medical info on you. I'm sure everything is fine, but I'd still want numbers x

Yeah I've rang to try and bring it forward and the woman said 'Sue' will ring me back sometime today, so maybe she'll ring tomorrow instead? If not I'll ring back Thursday.
But yep the results I'm waiting for were bloods 12 weeks ago and an ultrasound about 13 / 14 weeks ago!!!

And I'm also going to get my OH to ring for his results, I can't believe I told him to write it all down and he just didn't!!! Men! :dohh:

xx
