Upset for my kids and he doesnt get it

My husband has recently started a new job but its pretty much all illegal. He's labouring on a construction site without the correct certificates, his 'wages' are going through someone elses pay and getting cash in hand and also is travelling (an hour each way to the job) in the back of a transit van. I've told him its all stupid if he gets caught, plus he could actually die if theres an accident. I tried explaining my worries of him being in the back of the van on the motorway in the terrible weather we are having, but he says he will be fine. I dont want to have to tell my kids their daddy is gone for £6.40 an hour! Argh!!

How silly, to risk his life for such a small amount of money. I would be furious.

I don't have any advice, just wanted to say that I feel for you.
Is he applying for legitimate jobs in the meantime?

oh wow id be absolutely furious! he could die or get caught and get in serious trouble with the police. have you told him point blank you dont want him doing it hun? xx

Hey, yeah I've told him he's not going back. I can't sit worrying every day about whether he got to work or not. Or if he will come home. He's stopped doing it and is looking for a different job. Sorry for the rant, just was so mad xxx

Completely understand why you were so mad, I would be so worried too. If they are dodgy enough to be letting him work (fir half as much as a normal labourer!) and paying him through someone else I'd be worried about how little regard they probably have the safety on the site. I'm glad you got through to him.

Actually in shock right now, just found out that the guy was in an accident today with the van! Not major smash but enough to put him off the road. Couldn't make this nonsense up! Mighty glad he wasn't in that van xxx
