Can my baby take to one better than another? She is on sma but is very windy, and keeps throwing up. The 2days she has been exclusively formula fed she has done nothing but cry and look in pain. I'm just off out to buy dr brown bottles as she has TT but should I try a diff formula? Please help!! My poor baby is not happy x

change the bottles first, sounds like wind, try feeding her an ounce then wind ect, i wouldnt change the formula at the same time as the bottles as youll be none the wiser of what the problem is if you do both. hth

Babies do respond to formulas differently I think. Get the Doc Browns bottles definitely, they are brill for wind. You could also try Infacol/dentinox/gripe water or something similar if the dr Browns bottles are not enough. SMA is quite a heavy formula, it is rather famous for causing wind/constipation although some babies are fine on it. Maybe try a lighter formula like Aptmail? Also, check your teat size - is it too big? LO might be taking down more than they need thus causing them to be sick. I'd stick with newborn teats for such a little one (if you're not already). It can be a bit of trial and error in the beginning. I found Aptamil 1, Dr Browns bottles and Infacol controlled my sons wind very well X

ps. there are comfort milks available if you continue to have problems with wind issues etc

my LO couldnt use SMA milk as he threw up on it so we changed to cow & gate an he suffered constipation for 3 whole days so changed it to aptamil stage 1 milk an he seems alot happier on it wind is better hes starting on solids slowly now as he seems hungry but i wont be putting him on baby hungrier milk i think ill stick to what im doing now :D lol x

the only formula my lo could manage was hipp organic you can change the formula if you want or try changing the bottles x

We had the same problem, we changed her to C&G Comfort & she is doing brilliantly.

I had been and got the bottles, I'm pretty sure it's the formula. Will see how she goes tonight on the new bottles n if there is no change I will try a diFferent formula tomorrow. X

Basically WSS^
Aliyah was the same as your baby,She was on Tommee Tippee bottles and SMA.
I switched her to the Dr Browns,Aptamil Comfort milk, changed the teat size to number 2 and gave Infacol, now she is like a different much happier baby.

When i 1st switched her over and gave her the 1st bottle of her Aptamil she didnt reallt drink it properly for the 1st 20mins or so because i dont think she recognised the taste but now she loves it :)x

I've been using newborn teats. I've given her cooled boiled water for her feed just now. I will give her sma before bed and see how she goes tonight after the new bottles. She's only just woken up from her feed at 330pm so I know she's not herself and she's not had a pooh today just the hard nugget in her nappy this morning and a bit of farting x

My LO was on SMA from birth until around 6 - 8 weeks old as she had bad wind and colic - I moved her to cow and gate and dr browns bottles - since then she's been great xx
