Hi BellyBelly, could you please urgently share my story as I need to find out if anyone elses baby has had this. My son at 2 and a half weeks old came out in a rash. We took him to the hospital and we were in hospital for 5 days. We were discharged and they put it under an unknown rash. We then took my son on Monday to the doctors as they referred us to the hospital as he had a sore arm. They then xrayed him and it showed a fracture. We had no idea of this, they instantly accused off of Child Abusers. They then xrayed his body and found another 3 fractures. We have no reasoning for this. We can not explain them. Our child was taken from us on Tuesday. At first the doctors told us along with Child protection that it was not medical and either my partner or our family are child abusers. We have not or would not allow our child around this. Whilst in the hospital with his new fracture, more rashes appeared. I am adamant this rash is something to do with this. As his first rash is around the time when they are saying the other fractures happened! We were called into another meeting and now they have opened the medical book open again but we are still not allowed to see him. Has anyone else come across this? Has anyones child had a rash or unexplained fractures. We have asked the doctors to test osteogenesis imperfecta as they originally hadn't but the doctor does not believe this is it. I have attached a photo of his rash at 2 and a half weeks. Can anybody help or has anybody experienced this? Please! They has to be a medical reason for this! I would not allow someone around my baby! He is my miracle as i have PCOS and never thought I would have a baby!

Sorry I didn't want to read and run but OMG I am so sorry you are going through this :( I hope you are reunited with your baby boy soon

My sister as a child had osteopresis in my arms and they didn't believe my parents until they finally tested after the 10th time she broke her arm - this was a result from her contracting meningitis

I hope your poor boy is better soon and that you can get back to your baby I cannot imagine what you are going through :(

Sending strength to you :hugs:

Wow I am so so sorry.

All I have heard of before is babies easily breaking bones (and parents not realising) due to a lack of vitamin D in the baby. This usually occurs because the mother is vitamin d deficient and is breastfeeding, and so they put the baby on formula (which contains vitamin d).
I have no knowledge of rashes though.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I cannot even imagine the pain you are suffering. I hope you get answers soon and will be reunited with your baby.

I am so sorry you're going through this. I can't even imagine :hugs::hugs:
I hope they can find an explanation for the fractures and your baby comes home soon :hugs:

It's pretty unusual, but not unheard of that osteogenesis imperfecta CAN cause rashes. In some individuals with the condition, the abnormalities with their collagen can cause the little blood vessels to be leaky, weak, and easily ruptured - this leads to bleeding under the skin and may cause a dark, spotty or patchy rash, called a petechial rash (or purpuric rash when the patches are bigger). If you Google it, does this look anything like what he has? Has he ever had a nose bleed?

I would definitely push for testing since the fractures are inexplicable. Has anyone had a look under his eyelids at the colour of his sclerae (the whites of his eyes)? They are usually blue-tinged in people with ostegenesis imperfecta - the teeth can have issues too, though he won't have those yet.

I did a lot of reading about osteogenesis imperfecta when I noticed my kid's sclerae were a kind of blue-grey in the corners. Turned out it is quite usual for young babies due to their tissues being thinner, but the blue colour of OI is pretty distinct.

Please don't give up until they agree to test him. You are your baby's voice. Good luck.

I'm so sorry your are going through this :(

No advice but just wanted to say I hope all is ok with your lil man and that his back home with his family :hugs:

oh my goodness i am so so sorry you are going through this! to me this sounds suspect hun and iwould push and push until they do test.
Also surely if the breaks happened at the same time as the rash that means you were in the hospital at the time and if it was due to abuse someone would have seen. And obviously none was seen since they allowed you home!

No advice, but I didn't want to read and run without saying how sorry I am. As others have said please push for OI testing xxx
