UTI??

Hi, we're ttc for the first time and we only stopped using protection a couple of weeks ago. My DH thinks he may havethe beginnings of a uti and I'm almost sure I have. (I'm quite prone to them). Does this mean we can't NOT use protection?? How can we ttc??
Please help!

getting a UTI doesn't have anything to do with or without using protection, it's just one of those things that happens, if you wee after sex that can help you avoid getting one

I get them sometimes and we still ttc through it even tho you prob not meant to! if you don't wanna miss a cycle of trying I would just carry on and treat you both for it at the same time. Just drink loads and loads of water (as Im sure you know) so you don't end up needing anitbiotics!)

Oh no, so sorry I do actually think that not using protection can make a difference, as this happened to me too. My doctor told me it was being introduced to a new bacteria. Strange for dh to get it to though. They have over the counter tests at the drug store (here in the US, not sure where you are) They are called AZO test strips. I am very prone to them so I what I do is I shower and scrub down there before sex, drink a lot of fluids (pure cranberry juice would be good) before hand, pee after sex and wash again. Maybe wait 20 minutes before doing this when ttc to let the semen better liquify and swim. I haven't had one for 2 years now, but I think I got used to my dh bacteria, and I have been really good about cleaning and peeing during and after sex. There is also something called cranbladder releaf that is amazing, but it says not to use during pregnancy, so I'm not sure if it would interfere with implantation. It would probably be fine to use during ovulation? Not sure though. Can defintiley try it the first part of the month though! Good luck!

I do the exact same thing. Down tons of water and some organic cranberry juice prior to DTD. I make sure to shower / clean down there and I ask DH to do the same too, which he does.
Then 10 min. or so after DTD I shower and drink tons more water and cranberry juice.
Yes, I end up getting up to pee like 4 times during the night but it's kept me UTI free.

Are you using any lubrication? I know once my dh had stinging from the lubrication and I did too.

No we don't use it coz I'm afraid it will interfere with our chances!! I'll def keep washing before as well as after, we're both ok now, we did drink loads of fluids so antibiotics avoided!! I just would hate to put DH through it on a regular basis so I'll be sure to be careful!
