To be honest, I'm not sure my daughter has ever had an injection site swabbed before a jab. They usually just do it quickly and then it's done. I think it's because there isn't a whole lot of evidence that doing it does anything helpful for infection control. I think it's difference if you're getting an IV line directly into your blood stream, then there would be a genuine concern about not introducing harmful bacteria into the blood. But a vaccine just going into muscle in an otherwise healthy child poses minimal risk, so I don't think there is agreement that it's necessary and some places don't do it as standard or have changed policy to move away from using alcohol swabs. I wouldn't worry about it, particularly if your LO is healthy.
