I was wondering if anyone could share any VBAC stories, pros or cons. I guess I'm just trying to get information.
My DS was born by c-section at 36 weeks for medical reasons. We made it through just fine, 5lb 10oz and no NICU for him.
Any way, we are ttc now and my doctor/hospital does not offer VBAC any more. (Maybe they will bring it back by the time I have another baby) I really like my team of doctors and the hospital. If I want to try a VBAC, I'd have to go to a different doctor and hospital.

Csection with my second. Vbac with third. It was utterly wonderful! I got pregnant with my third 6 mths after my c section so it wasn't ideal. I did get very painful twinges on one side of my scar throughout pregnancy. If I moved suddenly. Usually turning over in bed, etc. but it was just stretching around the scar tissue and normal. I was consultant led rather than midwife led. I had a one hour session with a vbac nurse who went through the pros and cons.

Here in the UK, your risk of uterine rupture is higher in your first pregnancy then after your first c section. A the odds are good!

They like to monitor you once you go into early labour so I went in to the hospital a few hours after the contracting started. They attatchprobes to your tummy to monitor baby throughout. But I had tonnes of room to bounce on the ball and walk around the room.

Once I hit ten cm I had 4idwives in the room for the delivery. It was s fabulous birth without complication even though she was my biggest at nearly 10lb.

With my fourth I'm going for another vbac.

Hi
I had elective section at 38w as Dd was footling breech. Really wanted vbac with ds. I had 5 yrs between so rupture risk was minimal but they still scare you with statistics. I had to be induced at 39+6 as I'm over 40 but it all went fine. Had induction at 5pm, contractions started about 11, only 2cm, had pethidine at about 2 and got to 8cm. Pushed for 2 hrs and had to have ventouse and episiotomy. Never laboured last time so have no comparison but it was all fine and very pleased with myself for doing it!
Good luck. Xx

Thank you so much for the replies! It's scary but a big part of me wants to try it. My hospital doesn't offer it anymore so I'll have to decide switching. I'm diabetic and had preclampsia with my first and due to complications I had a c section at 36 weeks, so I guess it depends a lot on how my pregnancy goes...when I finally get pregnant. There are two towns by me, I'll have to look into them to see if they offer vbac. I really like my doctor and he specializes in vbac, it's just too bad they don't offer it anymore...I have read that they may bring it back.

I d definitely go for it if I were you! My second was born via an emcs. I have also had 3 losses and 2 cerclages so my doc was very negative about a vbac and told me stories about removing my uterus, my cervix not dilating ect. I went into labour at 39+1 but because of the previous cs they couldn't help me along. Spend 20 hours in active labour..delivered with a wonderful unmedicated vbac that was the best of my three births! Don't let anyone scare you otherwise!

I definitely don't want to get scared out of trying and I know that will happen, but if I don't have any complications the next time around, I don't see why not. It's definitely something I want to talk to my OH about and my doctor. I know my doctor also works at the hospital 40 minutes away and maybe that hospital offers it. I'm going to get all the info about it.
If I get pregnant any time soon it will be almost 3 years since my csection

I got scared out of trying for a vbac eith Sophie and regret it.

How can a hospot deny you the right to birth as you see fit though? Would they turn you away at the doors?

They say after 2 years you re good to go for vbac. About 2 weeks before my due date my doctor was going on n on about how if anything went wrong if we tried for vbac he d have to remove my uterus...I just looked at him and very blankly told him I trust that if it came to that he d do what he needed to do but in the meantime I was still going to try. Then after I had my stitch removed he kept commenting there was no way my cervix would dilate with so much scar tissue and that my girl was sunny side up and it'd be very difficult to turn..well my cervix dilated to a perfect 10 and even though she didn't turn she still made it out!

I'm going for vbac this time. I've been reading tons of information including things for me to do now so we can accomplish it! Staying fit and active, chiropractic work, exercise and stretching!! I'm GOING to do it. I 100% believe I can!!

I've been doing lots of reading also. I'm going to have a lengthy discussion with my doctor when the time comes.
I had a miscarriage in march but at my first appointment, the midwife I had said that the hospital just doesn't do them anymore so I'd HAVE to have another csection. I don't know why, but I did see the hospital said they may bring them back in the future. I just hate the idea of fogging a new doctor.
I'm really not getting scared out of it no matter what I've read, it's completely doable! It's just finding a supportive medical team that's willing to go down that road with me. I will have to find someone who will take on a diabetic vbac patient! I've lost 30lbs since april, I just need to work on the being more active thing!

I had an emergency c-section with my 2nd son. He was breech, and decided to come at 35 weeks, so delivering vaginally was a no-go. I opted for a VBAC when I became pregnant with my 3rd son. I delivered him naturally in hospital - 2 years after my c-section. It went very smooth! I was in labor for a total of 3 hours from first contraction, to pushing him out! I had another VBAC with my daughter 4 months ago (this time, a home birth) and again it went fine! :)

Just an update..I have found a doctor that supports and advocates for VBACS 20 minutes away! I have made an appointment with him this coming Friday, in case we have conceived this cycle, I need him there from the beginning. If we didn't concieve, I can talk to him about that as well since next month will be one year of trying.

I could have cried I loved this doctor so much! I'm so glad I went to him and I will continue to go to him. He knows his stuff, he's not in a hurry at all and he put all my worries and concerns to rest! It was such a breath a fresh air! Now time to just get pregnant already! Also on that note, if I get a positive this cycle, he wants me to call him right away so he can give me some progesterone suppositories. If not he wants me to temp for 3 months (of course my temping has not been everyday or not at all lately! Ugh)
He is completely pro VBAC, he's done 5 this month and only one ended in a c-section because baby was turned. He's delivered over 5000 babies. He was recommended to me by a dear friend and I'm so grateful. It feels amazing to have a doctor who is on your side

That's great! I feel the same about my dr , she's so proME :haha: she actually cares about me!!!

That's great news!! When you get your BFP (and I hope it's this month) ask your doc to tell you all the tiny tips that will help the baby turn head down in an optimal position (of course when the time is right!) maya kept being breech until 31-32 weeks and then I started sitting in a very specific way n I think this helped her turn! Now my mw told me to sleep on my right instead of my left to turn her face down but it was too late for that!

Thanks for the tips. I'm 10dpo and I thought I seen a faint line today...I actually got excited for a minute. I'll see what happens tmrw, but as soon as I see an actual faint line/line, I am calling doc

I have permanent lines in my eyes so I never get excited when I think I see a line bit that one got me excited. 12dpo today and nothing 😤
