does it ever go away? Ive had it on and off for about 10 months and ive only just been given some tablets for it. Although its not as bad as it was in the beginnig and ive only been taking the tablets for nearly a week, it hasnt completely gone. Its beginning to get me down now i just wish it would go.

Anyone had it and its gone away? what pills did you take if any? thannks in advance xxx:cry:

i take it no-one has or theyre too scared to share xxx :(

Oh Porky Pig I feel for you. I used to think that people who complained of vertigo were just a little melodramatic............until I had it myself after giving birth to baby number 2. It is dreadful and really does have a huge impact on everyday life. I was too scared to hold my baby near the stairs or when I was walking down the stairs due to the fact that out of the blue I would feel sick and I would feel like the house was spinning around.
The good news is that it has now gone. It went on it's own without any medication.
Just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you as I know how awful it is.

xx

I have it every once in a while, not too often. Not taking anything for it though so I can't help you there. The stairs scare the crap out of me! Everytime I come out of the living room I have to see the stairs and I'm afraid I'm going to round the corner and fall down them! We have a baby gate on them for the dogs and everytime I put it back up I'm scared to death that I'm going to fall head first down the stairs. So I really only go down them if I absolutely HAVE to.

I've had a few times in my life, most often when I have just got up, well, I don't actually get up as I cannot lift my head without going really dizzy. It can take me up to a few hours to get out of bed when it happens. In my case I think it is linked with sinus problems. I try to drink plenty when it happens to shift mucus. It is an awful feeling, sort of like you are dropping of the side of the world. Hope it gets better XXXXX

it is the worst feeling ever, it just drains you so much and obviously having a baby to look after plus going to work makes it more difficult a you cant afford to just lay down or sit in a quiet room somewhere. I just hope it goes, its making me depressed; all i keep thinking is back to the time when i didnt have it and felt fine. throughout my pg, i felt so good, almost too good and now ive got this xx:cry::cry::cry:

It lasted for 6 months. I still have problems if I tilt my neck so I am looking at the sky (does that make sense?) It might be worth getting your ears checked and perhaps your sinus' as it is such an awful thing to be living with. Perhaps you could see a homeopathist, anything is worth a try!
I hope it goes soon.

xx

just been to the docs again and was given some different tablets (beta.... something or other) hopefully these will work, im praying xxx

forgot to ask you hun, didyou have it all the time as in constant or did it come and go? xxx

I had mine for three month constantly. I tried the drugs but found that it made it worse. I worked through it cause i really needed the money for school. Lucky it went way before school started again.

thanks hun. was yours the room spinning type or just a general sense of instability? xx

Both if i got up to fast Id be spinning but i had continuos instability. It was cause by a piece of something floating around in my ear. Lucky it either dissolved or became stationary. I was so debilitating at first but i learned to fight through it and ignore it.

this is what im finding hard to do; ignore it. did you see a specialist for it hun? is that what they told you it was? xx

Never made it to the ear nose throat doctor because it went away before I could get an appointment. My general prac diagnosed me.

thanks hun. hope mine goes away, had it for too long now xx

Hi Porkypig.

I've had the dreaded Vertigo. Worst thing i've ever had. I had it very mild a couple of time a few years ago which cleared itself up after a couple of weeks however in Jan 2008 I started to feel giddy and sick one afternoon (just like travel sickness) went to bed and couldn't get up again for ages. Was off work for 3 months. Was as sick as a dog.

The only tablets the doctor prescribed me were the anti sickness tablets (STEMETIL). All that did though was obviously manage the sickness for a while but never actually helped with the giddyness.

I went to the doctor every other week trying to get answers and he kept telling me -"you'll be better in a couple of weeks!" After 9 weeks he eventually referred me to the ENT consultant at the hospital and I had to have an MRI scan. Also he kept moving my head about and then asking how I felt and was watching my eyes to see how I was focusing I think. From that he was able to work out which ear was the one playing up. Then he tapped behind the ear to help move the floating crystals that can kinda settle in your ear. That then triggered another really violent attack of Vertigo and I couldn't lift my head for 48 hours :(
(Sorry this is a long post!)
Anyway long and short of it the only thing that evenually helped was physiotherapy. I went once every two weeks for three months and they made me focus on a pen positioned arms length from face and then shake my head from left to right. And then I had to shut my eyes and shake my head from left to right again. It used to make me feel so very very sicky!

But apparantly they were the two exercises that brought on my symptoms the quickest and the only way you can get better is by retraining your brain to compensate for the problem in your ear.

Think the exercises were called "Cawthorne Cooksey" and I had to do them as often as possible.

I'm really sorry this is such a long post but I hope it helps as it took me such a long time for my doc to take me seriously! I was eventually signed off from the hospital July 2009 (18months later) however I hardly have any dizzy spells now (although if I get a cold it seems to go straight to my ears!!)

xx

PS Gorgeous baby piccie x

thank you for replying. i am going private and going to see an ENT specialist and hopefully get to the bottom of it. hopefully they can give me some excercises to do and that will sort the problem out as ive had it for too long now and its getting me down xxx glad you are better now xxx

Here's hoping they get you sorted out too chick. Its miserable because everybody looks at you and says well you don't look ill!

Good luck x

This is the problem, i actually look really well and coz i carry on (coz you have to especially with a little baby) people either dont believe you or think its not that bad, when it is. i never walk straight because i always feel off balance and my head never feels clear I can never relax as ive got this ongoing 'bobbing' sensation going on in my head. I hope I get better, thanks for yor post hun xxx
