Very Discouraged and Lost

hi roby .its not unusual with me and i thing all women having same pattern.one ovary is dominating im mostaly ovulating from my right side .5 6 months right then 2 or 3 months left .they shuffel after 4 5 months .so i think its not a think to worried about. you have two follicles thats gud.best of luck

Thanks zubijee - that makes me feel much better. I guess I panicked yesterday as I really thought the injections would be more successful, and I worried that the injections should have stimulated both ovaries. Dr says that if we get to ivf and the stronger drugs that are used then don't 'wake the ovary up' then we need to worry.....so for now there's nothing to do....poor dh had to deal with me in a right state last night...

robyn - are you trying for "natural" or ivf? if natural then 2 follicles is a good no. right? my doc said if go for injections but there's a "blooming" of follicles e.g. 4 or more then need to go down the ivf route since there's risk of quadruplets / unstable pregnancy.

It's hard seeing pregnant women everywhere, and sometimes I think I should have just ditched the career and had kids in my early twenties like some people I know.....maybe it would have just happened then?? But now I'm settled and ready and mother nature just doesn't seem to want to give me a baby...I don't understand why. But then I figure when I do get pregnant none of this will matter....

Actually, I find it quite hard being in my early 20's and unable to conceive  I'm married to a fantastic man, Been together for 6 years, we have our own mortgage, very settled and responsible and we have more chance of winning the jackpot on the lottery it seems!

Sorry Becks, I didn't mean to offend anyone out there....was just having a bad 'omg maybe I should have tried sooner' day...my best friend has two wonderful children and she had her first in her early 20s so that's always in the back of my mind. But of course at whatever age ttc for a long time is heartbreaking...and you are a lot more settled than I was then! Btw, if it helps, that friend of mine also has PCOS and erratic cycles, so sure it will happen for you!

Neuros - we're doing iui this cycle. We were hoping for 3 or 4 follicles to give us more chances...but yes, any more than that and we probably would have had to cancel or go for ivf. My big worry was that one ovary didn't respond to the injections..if I had 1 follicle on each ovary I would have been happier! Had another scan this morning and there's 1 follicle that should definitely pop and another slightly smaller one that might. Trigger shot tonight and iui on Friday morning - costing a fortune as it's a public holiday for cny....

Well, just had my iui. And unfortunately dh's morphology has dropped down to 2% (it's usually around 4%). Unbelievable. :(

hi neuros.

I feel for you  I've been feeling the same way, especially last year, I was really really down. This year, I am trying to change my outlook to a positive one.

I'm from Singapore too and I know what you mean about dreading the chinese new year family reunion. I just survived mine yesterday and of course my DH and I weren't spared the "when are you going to have a baby" question. Read here what happened: https://www.babyandbump.com/trying-to-conceive/527354-do-you-survive-family-reunions.html
How was yours?

hi yellowbell,

the relatives didn't actually grill us but i can feel the "invisible" rays or perhaps i'm just being too sensitive. hahaaa...

i just went back to work just before cny after a break of 5 mths and it seems like EVERYONE's pregnant! so demoralising... sigh...

Neuros, I am in the same boat :(...we're probably in some percentage that having hard time to get preggie, I found this article in babycenter.com.

No one can say exactly how long it'll take you to get pregnant. But we can tell you how long it typically takes couples to conceive – and how you can speed things along.
How long it takes to conceive

The majority of couples get pregnant within three months. Your own timeline could be longer if you're older, have certain fertility-unfriendly habits (like smoking), or have a condition that impairs fertility.

Of all couples trying to conceive, here's about how long it takes:

* 30 percent get pregnant the first cycle (about one month)
* 59 percent get pregnant within three cycles (about three months)
* 80 percent get pregnant within six cycles (about six months)
* 85 percent get pregnant within 12 cycles (about one year)
* 91 percent get pregnant within 36 cycles (about three years)
* 93 to 95 percent get pregnant within 48 cycles (about four years)

If you try for a year without success, it's smart to seek help from a fertility specialist. You might conceive on your own if you keep trying, but in case you have an underlying fertility problem, it's best to get help so you don't waste valuable years as your biological clock continues to tick.

If you're 35 or older, time is even more precious and you should get help sooner: Set up an appointment with a specialist if you're not pregnant within six months.
