I am new to the site and apologize for not knowing the lingo yet...

I started Clomid 50mg back in Feb. 2015, I got my Progesterone level checked 25 days after the first day of my period and it came back 0.47. Then my doctor upped me to 100mg blood test on the 25th day was 0.56. Now on month three I just had my blood work done on Thursday after completing 150mg and my level is again 0.47. Each time I have to take Provera to get my period... I was on BC for about 10 years and stopped after getting married last year. I still have not gotten my period on my own since stopping the pill. My Dr. will be calling me tomorrow to discuss the next steps... but I am just really down and want to know if anyone else is going through this! Thanks in advance, in need of advice and hope! :growlmad:

Hi Twiggy,

I am in a very similar situation as you. I was on birth control for five years. I stopped the pill in July of last year....and since then I have not gotten one natural AF at all. Provera has only worked once out of the four times I've tried it. I've had to do two BCP resets just to get my period. I did two months worth of Clomid, and it failed to get me to ovulate. I tried soy isoflavones this cycle and I got a positive OPK at cd11 and EWCM, which I have never gotten before. I am currently waiting for AF (which I am entirely doubtful will come, because of all my prior experience)....if it's not here by the end of the coming weekend, I will try provera again. If we do not get pregnant by the one year anniversary of TTC, then we will see the specialist.

What really gets me is like I can't even start over every month like other women. Each cycle I have to try to figure out how to get AF...and that can take an additional 13 days to an entire month!.......

What is important is that you do not give up! There is so many success stories on here, and that is what gives me hope...we all have our good days and our bad days.

FX'd for you hun! Good luck!

1nceUponATime... thank you for your kind words! I have never got a natural AF ever. Each time, even years and years ago when I went on BCP they used Provera to get me rolling. Provera has always worked for me so that is a positive... but Clomid has not up'd my levels enough to O. I am waiting to hear from my OBGYN this morning and discuss what my next steps are. She mentioned that if 150mg of Clomid did not work that we would try a different prescription, if I remember correctly she said it is also used to treat breast cancer.... makes me a little nervous. I will be 30 in September and wishing that I had started this process sooner knowing that this has probably been an issue my whole life... but I will remain hopeful, always! Wishing you all the best in your quest! Please keep me posted, I would love to hear! :)

It's always been an issue for me too. There is more info in my journal... The link in my signature and in the first entry. I had maybe two odd natural periods when I first got it.... And then I went five years without it and then I went on birth control which gave me a period every month. I'm now almost 28 and I feel the same way.

I just feel punished because DH and I got married and then tried to have kids... We tried to do things the old fashioned way, and now we are being punished for it ugh.

Maybe it's Femara? That seems to be a clomid alternative that doctors try.

I believe it is Femara. My hubby and I have an appointment with a specialist on Tuesday, fingers crossed!

I have never had a "natural" period but once on birth control was "regular" every month. I also feel punished... KF and I were together for 10 years, got married on our 11 year anniversary and just celebrated 12 years together, 1 year married. We started to try and have kids right after we got married but obviously that wasn't going to happen naturally. I am discouraged but very hopeful. I'm nervous about how much this is going to cost us, hoping insurance covers some things.

I will check out your journal and keep in touch!

Good luck!...I'll add you to my contacts on here, because your story is the most similar to mine that I have seen yet.

Aren't you getting monitered through US to check your follicles progression on Clomid?
The breast cancer drug is Femara, that's what I'm on. For me it's a very "gentle" drug, no side effect at all.
I also don't ovulate on my own; if your doctor moniters you, he'll figure out what drug to make you ovulate, there's plenty of options, hang in there!

No I was not being monitored while on Clomid, not sure why the more I read it is pretty common. Met with specialist yesterday, very hopeful. I go in for my ultrasound sometime next week, starting provera today to get my AF. My first ultrasound will be on CD 3 to check everything is looking ok along with blood work. Then I will have a 2nd ultra sound to check and make sure my tubes are open on CD 5-12. After that she is thinking we will start with Femara, but obviously won't 100% know until tests have been done. My hubby is also getting his sperm tested and blood work to make sure he is in working order. :) I am lucky that my insurance covers all the diagnostic testing.

You can't see if your tubes are blocked with a US only, you have to have either a saline injection or a dye pushed through them and looked at by US (saline) or xRays (HSG). Just saying so you can prepare mentally : )

Good! I had that too, didn't hurt more than a normal gyneco exam : )
