This is kinda odd and have no idea what it is. My husband first pointed it out to me yesterday, then I had to take a look for myself. My butt now looks like it has tons of small bruises all over the place. But they aren't bruises just what it looks like. They aren't stretch marks. Have no idea what this is. Wasn't able to ask doctor when I went in for my appointment cause I didn't know about it. Does anybody have anything like this or had anything like this in previous pregnancy to give me any inclination of what it is?

ooo how interesting, no idea im afraid have you googled it?? do they look like veins or bruises?? no ideas as such but will let you know if i find anything!

If its bruising could be a vitamin problem causing you to bruise more easily, have you sat on anything with a funny pattern??

It isn't bruising just looks like that, best description I could think of what it looks like. That same type of shade/color. It is also a bit veiny. Almost as if I did sit on something of a very funny pattern for too long of a time. But this is their whether after sitting or after standing for along time. It is always their.

Are they spots of increased pigmentation - sort of pale brown patches? I'm sure I read somewhere that pregnant women get them.

A bit yes. But not so much brown but more like dark purplish blue brownish color.

I notice if I scratch too hard I get bruises and little burst blood vessels

I have the same thing, I look like I've been attacked on my butt. They are weird. They don't remind me of stretch marks but that's what I thought they were. A bunch of tiny circles everwhere.

What we go through as pregnant women! Sucks! Let me know if you do ask or find out what it is, I'd be interested to know, I didn't think my butt had grown leaps and bounds to cause that many strange stretch marks.

Are they varicose veins? They usually occur on the upper thighs (that's where mine are), but I'm sure getting them on your bum isn't impossible.

I'm happy to hear that I'm not the only one. I called the doctor about it and just waiting for a call back. Cause I have tried searching google, have asked my mom and SIL who just had a kid they have never heard of it. And it looks nothing like stretch marks. Will be sure to let you know when I find out.

Was going to say this too. My friend got them on her face, she had to have lazer treatment afterwards to get rid of them. Not too bad if theyre on your bum though!

I looked this up and nowhere has it said in this area can get them. They are caused by too much sun exposure apparently. And I promise you my butt has never seen the sun LOL.

No i think in pregnancy its different, pregnancy hormones can effect all sorts, i got these marks on the underneath of my boobs and theyve never seen sunlight either :haha: another friend of mine had to have a mole removed as it completely changed shape/size etc and she worried it was cancerous, but again, just the pregnancy hormones. Hope you get to the bottom of it (excuse the pun  ) xxx

Just had a quick google and looks like there are diff types of pigmentation in skin but that tyhis type can be hormonal and not just sun exposure?
"melasma is a skin pigmenattion disorder that results in hyper-pigmentation or dark spots on the skin of females. These spots usually appear on the face, neck, and arms and are most commonly brought on by excessive sun exposure. However, these spots can also be brought on by hormonal changes and affect over 50% of women during pregnancy...." XX

I first developed melasma on my face when I was pregnant - around my eye sockets really badly, and slightly around my mouth too. Unfortunately, Harry is now 2 years old and the marks are as bad as ever.

I have never been a sun-worshipper, and have had SPF15 on my face since I was 15 (i'm 31 now!) so feel a bit peed that i've ended up with this through having a baby. It is hormonal in my case. I have read also that it's common in those taking the contraceptive pill.

I'm currently working my way through various creams and treatments in a bid to fade/get rid of it, but in the meantime am spending a fortune on expensive foundations to cover it up.

On Friday I didn't have time to put much make up on and was asked 3 times by different people if I had been crying/was tired and had to explain to them. It's awful. I live in hope that there is a cream somewhere that will work - otherwise I reckon i'll end up having to have some sort of cosmetic procedure done to get rid of it.
