My DH and I are getting ready to start fertility testing. We had an ectopic pregnancy in 2007, but my doc saved my tube, then 2 miscarriages after that, both in 2009, and another ectopic pregnancy in Feb 2012. It was in the same tube that the first ectopic was in, but it did burst this last time so it was removed. We have been ttc ever since but nothing yet, so my doc just referred us to fertility testing. I have an hag on Monday which I am very nervous about, I've heard it can be quite painful. Also I'm nervous about my results, so scared that my right tube is going to be blocked. I had an ultrasound 2 1/2 weeks ago which showed a fibroid tumor in my uterus 3 cm in diameter but my doc says she doesn't think that's our issue, even though it's on the right side. Has anyone else had sort of the same issues? Is the hsg really painful?

Hi blue, sorry to hear about the difficulties and losses. It's an awful lot to go through and I understand :hugs:
I had a hsg about a year ago and you don't need to worry. I felt the same as you, and didn't really feel comforted by others telling me it was fine. But it was fine so please try not to worry.
When I had mine they yanked up the pressure (which I now know because he wasn't getting any spillage) but even then it just felt liked trapped wind and not that bad at all. All the nurses were incredibly nice and sweet which really helped. I tried to look at the moniter to try and second guess what was going on but it's so tricky to tell. I unfortunately found out both my tubes were near to entirely blocked and our only option was ivf. It's taken me a long time to accept that, but now I have I feel fine.

You don't know what will happen in the future but try and be strong and confident and take each step at a time xx

Thank you for the support Amoreamy. I am sorry to hear about your difficulties. I wish no one had to go through any of these difficulties. I'm trying very hard not to be nervous, I know I'll probably feel so silly afterwards! I have been looking at images of hsg tests online hoping it will help me tell what's going on tomorrow when I have mine done. I wish you all the best!

Hi, I had an HSG last month. It's not fun, but it's not too painful really, its similar to a pap smear, just with some cramping when they inject the dye. Afraid I can't help with the other issues, hopefully someone else will have some experience.
