I am curious if anyone here has short periods and what the Dr has said/done? Over the last 7 cycles, my period has lasted an avg of 2 days. I called my Dr office and they said that is normal for someone on the pill because they don't have as much lining to shed. I told them I wasn't on the pill and am TTC and she said that the Dr was off until Wed and to call back then. I did ask for the measurements of my endometrium from the 2 US I had and they were within normal range for that time of the month. Any advice is welcomed.

Hmmm - I'm not advice but my experience is everyones body is different and I don't think the length of your period determines that there is anything wrong as such. I usually have 2 days of proper bleeding and then one light day then finished and never thought this was a problem (more that I felt lucky it didn't go on for a ages!!)

Of course there could be people who have looked into this/ had tests who can offer more helpful advice! :)

Mine is 2 days and VERY light, the FS seems to think it's not a problem, i'm not so sure. X

Ditto, Bexy and DaisyDuke.... mine is 2 days lightish bleeding then the odd spot of brown discharge for the following day or so. My FS said that your period and length of it makes no difference. But on the other hand I am still not pregnant !! so makes you wonder.

Remember it's your luteral phase which is more important.

 xx

I really don't think that a 2 day period is something to be concerned about. Especially if they have checked your lining at various stages of your cycle and said it's normal.

Mines also 2 days of light/med flow, then a touch of spotting.
I was also told it's not a problem, but I'll reserve judgement for now :)

I'm with you all here and was also worried. Am on Clomid but my periods last 1-2 days and aren't heavy at all although they have been really painful. MY lining is normal cos they are scanning it as part of the clomid process. I'll reserve judgement cos 6 months of clomid and not a sniff of a BFP.

See the FS refused to check my lining so i dont know  i have a lpd to :hissy:

Just on a light side...you lucky so and so's :) 2 days!!! 2. days.:)

Ive heard this too btw, its individual and not indicative of your fertility status.

Odd that so many of us in here have this issue tho! I have 2 days and then spotting.

yes mine are very light, i dont even need to change my towel throughout the day (sorry tmi), i have been scanned as on clomid and they have said my lining is fine. x

Same here. My lining during the last IVF WAS too thin though (6, I believe) but for some FU reason, it seems no one takes it too seriously.

Hi, I only have 1 or 2 days - Ist day ridiculosly painful. then ok after, I'm TTC after ectopic in 2007 and salpingitis & peritonitis in 95

I was told my my OB's nurse that a 2 day period is normal for someone taking birth control pills because they don't build much of a lining to shed. When I said that I had been off the pill for several months, she said "oh." That's it. Just "oh." So, after going to another dr, I have been diagnosed with luteal phase defect which is a hormonal problem and goes hand in hand with the 2 day period. There are so many of us here that have 2 day periods so I wanted to update in case luteal phase defect is an infertility issue for someone else as well.

Mine are only 2 sometime 3 days long and i have spotting for days before usually from 9dpo but sometimes lucky from 11dpo but last cycle from 7dpo!

Glad you know something's is wrong and can be looked at!

It's interesting to read this, I've been ttc for a year and I also usually have about 2 days and then spotting. I have posted about this before and everyone reassured me it is nothing to worry about. I am having acupuncture to try to "improve the quality of my blood" now. I'll let you know if it makes a difference!

Incidentally I read on the net somewhere that light periods are linked to being vegetarian - which I have been for about 20 years - has anyone else heard that?

Interesting, Casey. I haven't read that before but it's cool to know. My OB doesn't seem too concerned about my 2 day periods, but my regular Dr did. So, I guess I should go with the OB on this one. So far at my ultrasounds, my lining has looked great. Hoping this month that a fertilized egg will stick in it!!
