Video monitor recommendations?

So #2 is due any day now and our trusty old bog standard sound monitor that we've had for 2 years has decided to snuff it. We've decided that it might be a good idea to get a video monitor as eventually our two will be sharing a room and we want to keep an eye out for DD trying to feed the baby duplo in the middle of the night.

Ideally I'd like a wide frame of view so I can see around the crib and not just in it, and I'd like the sound to be very sensitive! DD doesn't cry any more and I can tell if she's awake or not by the shuffling sounds over the monitor. She's only just started self settling so yes, this is still important even though she's 2.

Any ideas or suggestions? There's so much choice out there and I'm stumped.

Anyone have this one? Is it as good as the reviews say?

We have a Motorola one for DS2. It was only around £60. Like you, we wanted a video one this time around just in case DS1 decided to visit his brother in the night :haha: Our's has been fab so far  You can move the camera around with the parent unit to get a good view of the whole room too.

Is it this one? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorola-M...ie=UTF8&qid=1409346477&sr=1-1&keywords=MBP27T
I've had my eye on that one too.

OH wants to get a normal surveillance camera and hook it up to our phones but I'm not sold. Anyone else done this?

No, it's not that one. It looks similar to this one but this isn't it. I'm wondering if our's was such a bargain cos it was being discontinued or something? It's not a fancy one though. Doesn't do the room temp or play songs or anything.

We tried one with DS1 that used the wifi to connect to our iPhones or iPad. It was crap in all honesty!! A BT one. We have great internet but it constantly lost it's connection. I wouldn't recommend one like that, especially for a little baby. I would've been too worried that it stopped working in the night & baby was left to cry for too long.

We have the Motorola MBP36 with 2 cameras, one in each child's room. I can see right round both rooms by controlling the cameras with the parent unit, the quality of night vision is excellent and the sound quality is great too. My 2 boys are napping right now, and I can hear them both breathing over the monitor. It's so much better than the BT one that we returned before buying this Motorola.

We bought the Infant Optics DXR-8 after doing lots of research and we LOVE it. I can also hear him breathing and moving around if I turn it up. There is also a wide angle lens that you can buy for the camera to see the whole room. It also does zoom and pan/tilt as well as lets you talk to them through the monitor :)

I have the Summer Infant best view (or something like that) and love it. The picture is clear and you can zoom and move the camera from the parent unit. I don't know what I'd do without it

I have this one

But I didn't pay anywhere near this much for it and I have two cameras with mine as I have twins. I bought my main one from mothercare in the sake and bought the extra camera from amazon. I could not praise it enough. This is the third summer video camera I have had (I had two with my son, a basic one, then I upgraded to a all singing all dancing one once I knew they were worth the money) x x
