After some blood work with my fertility doctor, I found out I have a vitamin d deficiency. I was prescribed Maximum D3 10,000 twice a week. Did anyone else have a vitamin d problem, correct it and get pregnant without any extra help?

My vitamin d was on the low end and I am pregnant. I'm taking around 10000 iu/day for 3 weeks, then 8000 iu/day for 3 weeks then to a maintenance dose of 4000 iu/day after that. I'm pregnant and breastfeeding so really need my levels to increase. Best of luck to you, hope the supplementation helps!

In Nov 2011 I broke out in hives. I got 3 different drugs to make them go down. After that I was on reactin for 8 months to manage itchiness and skin sensitivity. I could 'draw' a word on my skin and it would be there 1/2 hour later. Finally got in with an allergy specialist who immediately sent me for vit D testing. I was at next-to-nothingand diagnosed with Dermographism.

Vit D is really important and something crazy like 80% of an Americans are deficient in it. Vit D prevents cancer (I had NO idea), prevents depression, helps you absorb calcium, prevents rickets (softening of the bones which leads to deformities), prevents type 2 diabetes & hypertension, it does sooo many good things for us.

I take liquid vit D everyday now and haven't had any of those issues since.

HEY ladies,

I'M 5 WEEK prego I haven't seen a dr yet. I also had vitamin d and iron deficiency for which I was taking 50,000 mg capsul of vit D once a week and ferrex for iron :/ I stoped taking as soon as I found out I'm pregnant ... I don't know if it is the rite thing but wanna ask my dr bwfoew continuing. As of now I'm taking prenatal plus & folic acid.

Iron and folic acid are two vital supplements to take while pregnant. Folic acid prevents Spina Bifida, iron prevents cognitive impairments, ADHD, learning disabilities.

Thanks for sharing this here 2have4kids .. I never even knew this...

I was just perusing some stuff on the World Health Organization site one day and they've now linked studies that show low iron leads to ADHD and learning/congnitive issues. It kind of makes sense, they described how iron carries the oxygen molecule on each blood cell so if you're anemic, your blood lacks oxygen and your babies brain/body starves causing permanent damage. Goes to show how exercise would also be good for baby too, getting fresh oxygenated blood.
