Vitex Help

Hello,

I recently started taking Vitex (chaste berry) on the 7th, I spotted on the 8th and had a very heavy flow on the 9th. I have sense had a medium/light period going on 9 days. I am worried that the vitex isn't working properly and I should stop taking it. I am unsure of what to do currently.

I use to have really regular periods that lasted 3 days and were always very light. I got with my now husband and my cycles went out of whack for unknown reasons. I had a miscarriage in February 2013 and haven't had anything since. I was hoping that my cycles would even out and go back to normal but its just not happening. I started vitex in hopes it would help.

This months cycle has been like this: Got my period on the 27th of October and was 5-6 days late. Period lasted 5 days, on the 1st of November I decided to start taking Vitamin B6 to help with the 3-4 days of spotting before my period that is a recent occurrence (past 3-4 months). I then had a light bleed on the 5th and stopped Vitamin B6 and the bleeding stopped. I ordered vitex and started taking it on the 7th started spotting on the 8th and heavy flow on the 9th. It has been a light period since the 10th and I am currently still bleeding.

I had O cramps on my left side on the 14th with a nice temp dip with a temp raise on the 15th and an even higher temp raise on the 16th. Today I woke up froze and my temp was REALLY low so I decided to throw it out. I am sure that I am ovulating just not sure why I haven't conceived yet and why I'm still bleeding bright red blood. All I can think is that I had that thick of a lining and it needs to get out of my body.

If you have any stories, ideas or any advice please feel free to give it to me. If you are just going to say that I need to see a doctor please just save your fingers and don't. I am well aware of this option as I am not an unintelligent human being.

Hey im also on my first cycle of vitex. I was under the impression that it is supposed to be started on cd1. I didnt have anything like that happen. What dose are you taking?

I am taking 800mg a day. I had read many places that it didn't matter when you started but to take it through your whole cycle. I hope next cycle is more smooth.

Thats what im taking too. I would just keep taking it and see if you balance out! Are you opking?

I'm not opk ing but I'm temping. I tried opks but my lh isn't strong enough to show a surge. I tried many brands and times but it never got dark enough. I get ovulation pain so it's pointless and a waste of money really. I will continue taking it and hope the bleeding stood soon. Thank you

I am on my second month on this and it seems (i think) to be helping me.
I would suggest sticking with it, it can take a month to 3 to start actually regulating your hormones. This is probably why the bleeding is happening.. Its trying to regulate your hormones from what they were doing originally. Keep persisting.
I only take mine until i have confirmed o with temps (so about 3dpo) as i have read that it can prevent the embryo from implanting due to it making your uterus contract small amounts. I'm not sure 100% on this but i don't like taking the risk when ttc.
I think if you want you could take it for a month to regulate you then on the second cycle take it until confirmed o and stop and so on.
