Hi there,
We are combination feeding LO because I wasn't making enough milk to keep up with what she wanted.
I am going back to work in a couple of weeks and my parents will be looking after her in the day.
My question is........ what's the best way to keep her amused while waiting for the kettle to cool to make up a bottle? At the moment, I BF in this time so it's ok, but on the times when my supply is low it is really difficult to distract her and stop her screaming while we wait the 25-30mins (plus time for bottle to get to right temp).
She doesn't have a routine established yet in terms of when she wants to eat, so we can't just have one ready for her. Sometimes if we think she is going to wake up soon we will make up a bottle just to be prepared but this seems a bit wasteful since sometimes she will just keep sleeping.
Thanks for any advice.

make them up in advance and store them in the fridge, i do. as a lot of ladies have said its way easier to heat one up then cool one down.

alternatively keep a flask of already boiled but cooled water, then mix powder with 1-2oz of relatively fresh boiled water and then cool by adding the already cooled water. This is quicker than trying to cool a whole bottle. Experiment with amount of hot boiled water needed to then top up with cool boiled water to get right temp

I too have always made them up in advance. You can't feed on demand and make them up fresh as you go - it's just not practical. Once you get into a routine you could start making them up fresh when needed if you want - but I suspect once you start making ahead you won't go back!

I make up a couple of bottles & keep them in the fridge then warm them up when needed. Deb, I'm in Stockport too, bella's a week younger than your lo. Did you give birth at stepping hill?

Odd socks, I had her at Tameside. I had thought about Stepping Hill, but heard too many horror stories so went for Tameside instead. Am thinking if we have another one I might go for St Marys next time, wasn't overly impressed with Tameside (I ended up having to have a blood transfusion through the actions of one of the midwives) so even though the rest of the staff were fine this put me off going there again.

I had my lo at st marys in may, I chose there over north Manchester and found all the midwives etc wonderful! They couldn't do enough for you x

I give my LO a dummy to suck on if she gets impatient whilst her bottle is warming.

We just carry her around and then she tends to be happy while waiting if we put her down shel scream but as long as were stood up with her She's perfectly happy to wait. She doesn't have to wait ages though as we kinda know when she's going to want a bottle so we make it a little in advance so all we have to do is cool it down a bit. X
