Walker making her lazy?

Grace likes her walker and is always zooming around in it and it keeps her out of my way while I get stuff done around the house. Only she still can't sit up properly on her own. I mean if I put her sitting up she stays but after a few minutes she flops backwards or to the side so she has to have pillows around her. Also, she has always had strong legs and she can pull herself up from sitting to stand if you hold her hands but her legs go all wobbly and she has never tried to pull herself up on anything else like the cot. I'm starting to wonder whether all the support she has got from the walker has confused her. It helps her sit obviously and when she walks in it, it moves for her so she doesn't have to do much. Could it be that or that she just isn't ready to do any of these things yet?

This happened with my brother... he only ever seemed happy in his walker and would spend most of the day in it quite happily and none of us saw it as a problem as he was using his legs and enjoying the freedom it gave him. But the HV told us to take him out of it as by ten months he wasn't even attempting to crawl let alone walk. We limited him to only an hour a day after this and even though he was grouchy at first within weeks he was crawling and sitting up more and by his first birthday he was walking every where.

They do say that you should limit the use of walkers as it can slow babies down with regards to walking/crawling etc.

hummm i dunno bexy! They do say that they shouldnt spend to much time in the walkers, charlie didnt really go in his untill he could crawl now i only put him in it to stop him touching everything! hes been sitting up on his own for a really long time, hes been crawling for a while now he climbs on things he pulls him self up on everything and i walks pushing his walker and his pram! i think you should keep her out of the walker for a while let her roll about the floor and explore, they also say that babys crawling is an important part of development because they learn co-ordanation from it. dont feel bad though just get her out of it and she'll probably he off in no time!

She can't crawl properly, she can crawl backwards and she can mover herself forwards to get to things in an odd fashion. I always have stuff to do and don't know where I can put her to keep her from under my feet whilst making sure she isn't going to be falling all over the place!

imo honey i don't think so. maddi spends time in her walker, jumerpoo and round me go and she's sitting now, and attempting to crawl and kinda moving about. i personally think all babies are different and they all develop at different rates! if you're worried i find putting maddi on a blanket on the floor, surrounded by toys (you could pop pillows down for grace too) and see if you can get some bits done then :) she's perfect honey :)
