Warming up bottle in Microwave?

luisa has 4 bottles a day now.. every morning i boil the kettle leave it 30 mins make 4 bottles and put them in the fridge..

i then heat them for 40 secs in the mw..

i make them while she is having her morning bottle(which was made the day before) .. she has 3 of them for the rest of tht day and the forth the next morning if tht makes sense lol

Same here, I just put 6oz ones in for 30 secs, give it a good shake and it's fine. Not hot enough to even get a hotspot!!

Yep me too! Usually only make up 2 or 3 bottles but they get heated in the mw - 7oz bottle on at half power for 1 min and let it stand for a minute and then a really good shake.

It's quick and it makes for a happy baby as he is fed before the screaming starts!

I do it, I just heat the water then add the formula after x

Wow! I am so glad i read this thread!

Me and my husband always boil the kettle etc and heat it that way. We'll start doing it in the mw from now on - much easier!

All these things that 'they' say you cant do! You'd never do anything if we followed them all! xx

I feel really bad now.. Mylo only gets his bottles at room temp.. I make them up and leave them on a shelf til needed. Hes fine tho- takes them, no colic or wind problems.. but should I heat them up to body temp? or are you only heating them up to room temp from fridge temp via Micro?

I answered your other thread but it's fine if he has them at room temp. :hugs: I warmed ours up to a little above room temp (from the fridge) because Hannah wouldn't drink them at/below room temp until she was much older

I only zap them when they've been in fridge to take the chill off them, Noah won't take them warm. If we go out somewhere and I take a bottle with us I don't bother to heat it at all. And I always take his night feed up to bed with me and let it stand and just add the powder at room temp. I'm sure Mylo will be fine- if he's not complaining then I wouldn't worry! X

I always use microwave for warming up bottles.
I keep 2L of water in a jug,but because i have twins obv. i have to boil kettle couple of times during the day anyway.
I always add formula after i've warmed it up.

We've always used the microwave :) using a jug of hot water took too long for elliot!

I have always done in the microwave. Cant be arsed with fannying around with bowls of hot water. My baby throws tantrums!

HAHA me too who can be arsed getting up a boiling the kettle at 7am in the morning!

not me thanks!

My best friend atm is the microwave  thoughts of boilin kettle and a screaming baby at 6am not really my thing x

30 seconds for a 6oz bottle

I warm the water then add the powder, if you make sure it's shaken well then that disperses any hot spots.

Yup.. I have done it since the day she was born.. I always make sure that I shake it up right away.. and then squirt some on the inside of my wrist.. and if i cant feel it i know its just right.. and i have never had a problem.. :)

Ohhhh yeah I am a microwave mommy! I just shake it and test it after it comes out, I only heat it 20-30 seconds. When I was in the hospital we had to run the bottle under the faucet to warm it up ... I snuck into the pantry to heat it in the microwave and got shit from the nurse though!

Yeah I microwave, as long as you're careful it's fine x

We always use the microwave. Just make sure it's shaken a lot. I don't have time to sit and wait for hot water to heat it up!!! lol....

I always microwave Hannahs morning bottle, she only has her bottle slightly warmed so its just 15secs in the microwave then a good shake.

About making up in batches : Are the bottles not sterilised you are giving to your lo's? Cos it says on our steriliser that it'll stay sterile for 3 hours max - how can you make them up in batches and know no bacteria is forming?

We would love to make up a days worth but the m/w said not to and plus the 3 hour sterile thing...

And we warm up the cartons by putting the bottle in the microwave sterileser for a minute as it's still hot(1 bottle steriliser thing)
