So my bleeding stopped about a week ago and I've been having discharge since. I was under the impression it was lochia alba or whatever it's called but now I'm worried there's something wrong going on. Basically, things down there don't smell 'right', but I don't know what they should smell like? For a while when I went to the toilet at the evening it smelled like BO, you know, that horrible like oniony smell? And I thought it's probably because I'm wearing a pad and showering in the evening when hubby can look after LO every day. I also couldn't tell where the smell was coming from, like, whether it was a UTI or vaginal. Anyway, I've been keeping tabs on it and now when I wipe, if I smell the discharge (sorry I know this is grim), it smells kind of fishy, literally, but it's not like I can smell it when I'm just sat on the loo or any other time, I have to actively smell for it iykwim? I've tried googling and apparently a fishy smell is a sign of infection but after I had my womb infection I was checked over by the doctor when I got my mastitis the other week and he said it had all cleared up as when he pressed my stomach it didn't harden or something (don't ask me, I don't know medical things, heh).

I'm really struggling to lose my pregnancy weight despite calorie counting and everyone I know has dropped theirs already. In fact the most I lost was when I was on the IV antibiotics for my womb infection. We also went for a walk today and I was totally knackered and I get occasional dull pains underneath my saggy tummy which I put down to breastfeeding and the uterus contracting maybe?

The thing is I'm now thinking the tiredness and the lack of weight loss and the pains and the smell together might all mean something. I've got my 6 week appointment the Thursday after next so I'll bring it up then because I doubt I'll get a doctors appointment before then anyway but I was just wondering if anyone else had noticed nasty smelling lochia or discharge or dull pains?

cant really help as i havent had it myself, i never really noticed any smell, but the midwife did say to me when i was being discharged that it was a 'fusty woody' smell that i should be worried about... whatever that may smell like! could it be that you are leaking a little and its stale urine?

i stopped bleeding and had discharge that did not smell right turned out i got an infection in my graze from where one midwife had told me to pour water when going toilet to stop stinging and it had somehow come into contact with my graze.. according to them lol So i had 4/5 days of anti bioctics and touching toes when wee'ing lol

Also i had become swollen down there with my infection but only one side was huge and the other only slightly

hey hunny i did have this and ignored it but when i went fo rmy 6 week check the doc couldnt even touch me down there i was so tender and i was put on antibiotics. I had an infection in my stitches. I hope your ok hun xx

Thanks girls. I didn't have any stitches but I did have some small internal tears and some grazes so I'm wondering if maybe with all the poking and prodding with speculums and with the scans and stuff from my womb infection, somethings got a little dodgy? It isn't sore down there anymore on the outside but I haven't attempted sex or anything so don't know about inside. I haven't got a fever so I'll leave it til my check next week and bring it up then. Thanks again :)
