Hi ladies!

So yesterday we were at a wedding. I was wearing a dress that I couldn't feed in without taking the top completely down so I called the venue ahead of time to check there was a room to use. When LO needed feeding I went and asked a member of staff to show me to the room....he led me to the disabled toilet! When I said I wouldn't sit feeding my baby on the toilet he offered to get me a chair!! I refused to feed in there so they found me a room.

Has anyone had similar experiences?!

I wouldn't be too offended. It takes a bit of education for people to get clued up on these things- especially men! If you get outwardly annoyed, people start to think you're acting entitled/being difficult rather than someone just making a reasonable request. i have been offered the ladies room before too but just politely asked if they had a quiet corner instead. I do always wear clothes that I can easily feed in so that I don't need an entire room to myself though- it can understandably be tricky for businesses to accommodate such a request.

No similar story just wanted to comment on how disgusting that is! Don't people realize bacteria isn't just INSIDE the toilet its all around the toilet and every surface surrounding it!? My only reply would be to the person suggesting that I feed my baby on a toilet would be "would you want to eat your food sitting on a toilet????"

You should of asked them how they would like eating their meals in the toilets!!

There was a story recently on the daily mail about a women who was on the train and asked by the ticket inspector if she could do whatever she was doing in the toilet!

I understand that with your situation they probably didn't mean harm.

Thanks ladies.

Babyjan- that poor girl in the article! I'd be upset and embarrassed too if someone asked me to move in front of everyone.

Bumpbear - I wasn't massively offended, I understand that the guy was just a bit ignorant on the matter. I was not rude - just said I needed some where else. I usually nurse in public, wherever I am and choose clothing that allows for this. This was an Indian wedding (I have never been to one before) and I had spent a lot of time chooosing an outfit that suited the occasion. In hindsight it wasn't the best choice!
