Damn interfering parents. Fair enough, everyone has an opinion. But this is the second time my mother has brought this up since Cas was born, this time with her partner, both saying it's 'horrendous' and 'he'll be ripped apart in school'. Sorry but, my name's Stephanie, it doesn't take a genius to come up with 'stiff-fanny', or anything containing fanny for that matter. My OH Charles, had 'Charles Dickens f**ks chickens'... EVERYONE I know has had the mic taken out their name.

I don't want opinions on Castiel btw, this is purely a rant over my mothers reaction to our name choice. ](*,)

I think it's a lovely name! I don't udnerstand what their problem is!

Abit late to reconsider his name when it his name :dohh: dickheads..i love the name Castiel that was on our list for boys when i was pregnant.
xxx

My mil did a similar thing to her daughter (my dh's sister)

They called their son theodore (which I think is nice) but wanted him to be known as teddy. I personally didn't like it but at end of day it's their child to call what they want so I would call him that.

Mil told sil it was a silly name and they will be calling him Theo. Tbh, Theo suits him more IMO but i thought mil was well out of line. Normally she's a very good person who respects your decisions so it was a bit of a surprise. Even my sil and her hubby call him Theo now.

even though you don't want an opinion I love the name!! And I've never thought of stiff fanny, I'll use that one on my friend called steph ha!!!!

An aquaintance is thinkin of calling her baby Muse if it's a boy... Just don't get it but each to thier own hey!!

What a horrible thing to do! That would upset me so much I would resort to being mean about their names (which wouldnt help but I would feel better!)

I think you need to tell them how bad it makes you feel. Then point out how bad it is going to make lo feel when he is older when his own grandparent don't like his name.

Or....tell them fine, we will change his name to... (and then insert something like lucifer, judas etc *prays no-one has those names so as to be offended*)

ps, I knwo you didnt want opinions, but I love it :)

Haha thanks for the replies ladies, as for changing it to Lucifer, that maybe wouldn't be so out there, Castiel (well, Cassiel) is an angel of the lord, a brother of Lucifer (I've all my information from Supernatural so apologies if it's incorrect!), it would make a wonderful name for a sibling in a few years :haha:

He so suits his name, I just laughed it off and bitched about it later with OH  I know he's going to be strong and confident enough to pull off his rather unique name :)

 Sorry i had to laugh reading your post especially the Charles dickens :winkwink:

Your baby has a lovely name :hugs: Take no notice and anyway even if you called your baby rice bowl or something equally ridiculous it's no one else's business but your

I'm Mel and i was mel smells for ages, then it progressed to mel smells of ...... and then they would add any old word like willies or bums or old men's underpants. When i got to senior school the words got more harsh

Its a nice name. You're right there is oppurtunity to take the piss out of any name. Tiffany is easy lol, I reckon they'll have a tough time with Blake though :haha:

i think its a lovely name. i work in a boys school so its always nice to hear names that are a little different... mil did not like name we gave our lo, Pascoe, when we first told her and we actually had second thoughts about it before we thought no, hes our little boy. he has his gt grandads surname as his first name cos they share a birthday so we love the name...! (so does his gt grandad... :))

I love that name!! I know you said you werent after opinions but i love it!! I may have to add it to my list hehe.

How exactly do you pronounce it? xx

Oh honey I understand I really do. I have a Jack (too common), a Mahalia (very strange), a Harrison (why do you want to call him by a surname), a Theodore (You will have to call him Theo) and now the poo has really hit the fan with my 8 month old because I called him Atticus. Apparently we are pretentious, want our children to be bullied, or gay! That was all from dh's Aunt and Uncle.

i love Atticus...! only place i have ever heard it before was in to kill a mocking bird...

Take no notice every name I came up with for my LO my mum sed she will get teased for, she sed she will get called soppy soph etc, I just told her its my choice and dont care if she has a problem with it.

love castiel btw I had a feeling you mite have got it from supernatural lmao x

My brother and his fiancee told me that if Corrine had been a boy and I named her Holden he would be gay??? I told them that at least then he would dress nice and keep his room clean..........

People need to mind their own business.

haha i saw the name Castiel and thought "omg DH will love that if we ever have a son" he loves Castiel from supernatural lol! even if we have another daughter lol, im sure he'll decide he wants to call her Castiella or something :haha:
at the moment he's fighting for "thor" for a boy!

pay no notice lol. we called our daughter Cara-Snow Sophira. and we're constantly being told to change it! but we love it and thats what counts.

That is a lovely name btw.

I would tell them to F*** off, I had exactly the same from my mum, when I was pregnant and actually considered calling my lo, one of the names she hated just to piss her off! xx

It's got naff all to do with anyone but you and OH Hun x x
