Hi All, just a quick question. Not sure whether I should post this in Weaning and Nutrition. I've just started my LO on solids as she is almost 6 months and was ready for it. My question relates to how often I should still breastfeed her. I know she is still supposed to get 20 ozs. At the moment I breastfeed her first thing in the morning, again mid morning and then I'll give her veg or fruit purée for lunch (12ish) but I'll give her water with her lunch. Then she seems to want breastfed about 2 hours after than. I haven't introduced breakfast or tea solids. Her final feed is around 6.30 just before going to bed.

Can anyone give me some info please?

Thanks

We still breastfed on demand till at least a year! Honestly she shouldn't be dropping BFs any time soon. I think our DD was about 9 months before she dropped any. She was BLW though so may be different.

I just breastfed as normal with both my TW baby and my BLW baby. They will take what they need from the breast.

No reason to change anything about breastfeeds, keep on as normal, feed to demand and baby will let you know when they are ready to drop a feed.

What is the saying? "Solids before one, just for fun"? Something like that at least.

Same as the ladies above, breastfeeds won't change. Its still the best and main source of nutrition, food is just about learning, and experimenting right now.

My LO just turned 6 months old and I plan to have BF be his main source of nutrition until at least 1 year old. I want to BLW my LO so he probably won't get much of anything from food at first. I nurse LO 5-6 times per day.. about 2-4 hours in between each feeding. He does STTN though and goes 10 hours with out a feeding during the night so I'm not surprised he eats as often as he does during the day. I suggest you follow your LO's cues and if you think she wants a milk feeding you can try offering her one. When she seems more interested in solids offer her more of those. :flower:

I started introducing solids between his bf and he has stretched out his feeds from every 2.5 to nearly 4 hours so has 'dropped' a feed. I still feed him 6-7 times per 24 hours. My days tend to be like this

7.30am bf
9pm breakfast
11-11.30 bf
12.30 lunch
3pm bf
5.30 tea
7pm bf bed
11-12pm bf
sometimes 5am bf

Not sure if that is what you are after.
