Hi all,

I have decided to start weaning Annabelle next week, starting with some baby rice tomorrow.

She is just over 5 months old, is sitting up well with support and seems hungry even after taking both breasts.

I have read Annabel Karmel's book on weaning and would like to follow the guidelines but I wondered if I should be waiting until she is 6 months old to introduce anything other than a few spoons of baby rice or whether I can go ahead with the different fruits and vegetables as outlined in the book as soon as we start?

Thank you for your help - this feels like a whole new chapter of confusedness!

You could try the 'banana test' - if your LO can pick up, bite off and eat a little piece of banana without any help at all then chances are she's ready for solids, and it would be ok to offer fruit, veg etc.
