I actually am going in next Tuesday. I could have gotten in today but I was off of work yesterday for my midwife appointment. I am due to start AF tomorrow or the first so I figure I will see him at the end of my cycle and then be open for tests. What is the test where they inject the dye to look at the tubes? HSG? I am hoping I can get scheduled in the few days after my consult. How long did it take to schedule an appt for that procedure? So many questions. So so many...
yes that is the HSG... they schedule it between CD6 and CD 9...here is what I found online too btw
Hysterosalpingogram (Uterotubogram) or HSG is a specialized X-ray of the uterus and tubes. An HSG is done after the menstrual flow has just stopped - usually on Day 6 or 7 of the period, at which time the lining of the uterus is thin.An HSG is usually preformed after your period, but before ovulation. This way it won't interfere with a pregnancy.
Actually I wanted to jump in.. I've had an HSG, and it's not an XRAY, it's an Ultrasound with saline..the purpose of this test is to examine the inside of the uterus as well as the tubes, to ensure the tubes are not obstructed.
What they do, is they insert a small cather into your cervix between day 6 and 12...the reason for that is that they want to insure your period is over, but that you are not pregnant.... the tip of this catheter has a little balloon on it, so that they can put water into the uterus, without it escaping.
First they fill the uterus for a lining examination, and then they use a different type of saline that has tiny bubbles, so that they can track the movement through the uterus and out of the tubes.....
it's not painful, but it can be uncomfortable slightly...they deflat the balloon, and then you have some watery discharge for a little while. MIght feel gassy etc.. it does resolve over a day or son.
