the dr was such an insensitive tw*t (sorry for the language)
firstly he couldnt find me on the computer and was sat there f-ing and blinding at his computer
when he finaly found me he asked what i was there for and i said that i had a mmc and told him all about the neg results and then the positive results he and goes : oh well you're probably pregnant again then
um yes ok i'd guessed that, then he says 'do you want to keep it?' i cant believe he said that! i was like 'yes of course i do' and i said i didnt know the dates and i was very worried because of mmc and he said 'well if you misscarry you misscarry theres nothing you can do about it a scan wont change that' im nearly in tears by this point. and he goes 'you should stop drinking and taking drugs' i was like 'um i dont drink, i dont smoke and i defiantly dont take drugs!' and then he said 'oh you should probably try and lose weight because being over weight increases mc' i know im a big girl but that was uncalled for.
im sat here in tears because i cant get an early scan and that dr is a w*nker and made me feel really crap

I would definately complain about him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was totally uncalled for!! I am sorry you were made to feel like this! The comment about drink and drugs - where did that even come from!! Knowing you'd recently been thru a mc and asking if you want to keep your baby - jesus!!!!! And we all know a scan won't prevent another mc but surely even acknowledging what you would get out of a scan instead of dismissing your pg and fear of mc in such a way - omg what a dick!!!!!

whatever the stats about mc and weight and anyone's opinion on it once you are pg going on a diet in order to lose weight is not the right advice ( oh and btw - you don't look overweight in your avatar! ) - even increasing excercise at this stage isn't advised - just healthy eating and light excercise - surely as a gp he should know this!!!!!!!

complain, book in with the mw and see if they would be willing to sort you a scan - if not it might just be the resources in your area - in which case maybe try a private scan?

hope you get that scan

i rang up my local epu and the lady i spoke to was so lovely, she said that the dr shouldnt have spoken to me like that and i should complain. she said to make a drs app with my gp and say that the epu recomends i be early scanned at 8 weeks because i dont know when im due. she was so lovely and i cried like an idiot haha

Thank goodness for EPU :) I am so glad you got through to someone with a bit of sense!

OMG! I would definitely complain about that GP. I'm glad the EPU helped you. Do you know how far on you possibly are?

i cant be more than 5 weeks but i could be as little as 3 weeks, its hard to tell.

I'd say if you've got a BFP then you're more than 3 weeks but I'm not really up to date on these new fangled tests that show positives practically just after conception.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, that is just horrible! Some doctors really need to work on their bedside manners, don't they teach that in medical school anymore?

Its a joke isnt it. I've been treated the same after both BFP's now... i'll bet your in the UK..

I dunno what their problem is... its like they think we're all 16 yr old chavs who wound up knocked up after a drunken one night stand.... when infact in myb case i'm a married 28yr old who's had to work really hard at TTC to get here!

Complain about him, its the only way to improve his service to others who may come across him!

Good luck with the 8 week scan. xx

I can't believe you were spoken to like that! What a w*nker!

At least the EPU were lovely :) Good luck for your 8 week scan when it comes around xx

Wow - is it standard for these tw@ts to say things like that? I had an almost exact experience when I got pregnant after 2 mc.

i know! its disgusting isnt it? you'd think they'd understand that if you've been through a mc then you're going to be sensitive about it. i cant wait to see my own dr on friday hopefully he will let me have the scan, i know he'll be nicer about it because he's a pretty cool dr. lol

i understand your frustration when me and the oh were going to consultations we had a very very rude doctor, when my oh asked him "what contraception would be wise in the future to prevent this happning again" as the pill obviously wasnt working... he basicly turned round and replied abruptly with ... well you tell me... we both new what he was indicating and to say the least after that i walked out and reported him ... he was then there when we went for the 21 week scan and we both looked at each other and thought what is the chances... when i was having my bp done he rudely walked in and went oh is this one for me... (he was there to deal with women wanting to ... a... the pregnancy) ... and the midwife replied with no shes here for antenatal appointment!...

there is so many rude arrogant people out there...really sorry you had to put up with that hun x

Are there any other doctors with your surgery could you go and see one of the others during your pregnancy coz this one is just not worth the time.

Well I went to tell my GP that I was pregnant and ask to be refered for a scan etc, he said that they wouldnt do a scan until I was 12 weeks. So I waited patiently for a scan letter to come through, which was then scheduled for about 6 weeks time, and then when I was 11 weeks, I collapsed. I had a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. I was rushed to hosptial, my other half was told that there was a high risk I wouldnt make it through the night, and I spent 3 weeks in hospital. I was off work for 4 months, my son had to go an live with my mum for 6 weeks because I was just to poorly to look after him, and all this was because my poxy GP couldnt be bothered to send me for a scan. I hope you have better luck than me, and good luck with your 8 week scan xx

That is outrageous but a lot of doctors are so inconsiderate. I emailed the midwife from EPU that help me with my twins' miscarriages and she replied saying call up for appt. I now have one for the 2nd Sept. She said I wont see much but should see a sac which will reassure us. I also have appt with doc tomorrow morning to voice my concerns and hopefully get some advice from them too.

I really hope they give you an early scan.

It wasn't my own GP I saw but she didn't hesitate and e-mailed the consultant I saw in my last pregnancy and told me to make an appointment with the community nidwife for the following monday, she dated me as not quite 5 weeks but rang the scan department anyway and they confirmed I was booked in for a scan on the wednesday and would see the consultant the same day! I got the letter for the scan the day after it but never mind - at least I found out in time!
It's so hard to get what you need sometimes and all it takes is one thoughtless doctor and it can ruin your trust in all of them - and some of them are so thoughless you want to advise them to try a different line of work, politics would maybe suit their rude and nasty personalities better!
xx
