We've both got thrush!

Hello, wondering if anyone could help us! My bubba's got oral thrush, and I've now got booby thrush. We've both been given some drops and cream, but I was wondering can I still give her a dummy? I steralise them a couple of times a day, but should I take the dummy away totally until we're both clear? Also, anyone got any ideas on how to stop my boobs itching?

My LO had thrush for the first 3 months of his life! I would sterilize the pacifier after EVERY use even though it's a pain! You could buy a bunch and then just sterilize them once at the end of the day.

Gentian violet was the only thing that got rid of his thrush.

Aww, your poor little one! Thanks for the tip about the dummies, think I might do that And if the gel doesn't work I'll try the genitan violet too xxx

We used GV too along with nystatin. You might need to look in a small family-owned pharmacy for GV.

If you start feeling any stabbing pain while feeding, you should see your doctor to make sure it hasn't spread to your ducts. If it does that, you'll need oral anti-fungals.

We had thrush for 2 months and it was SO painful! The cream should stop you from itching, if it hasn't improved yet I'd go back to your doctor. I needed antifungal tablets to get rid of it. Also, I was advised that steralising wasn't enough to kill thrush and to boil everything for 20 mins instead x

We're getting on really well, Lownthwaite, itching has all stopped and the redness is nearly gone too LO is much happier as well, not as fussy, feeding better and sleeping better too (YAY!!!)

Kitabird, you poor things having thrush for 2 months! And Susannah14, I had no idea it could spread to the ducts, that sounds ouchy! I so see why women find breast feeding hard! XxXxXx
