What a story to come to light during National Breastfeeding Awareness Week!

I was coming in to post this after hearing it on the radio! How stupid is their excuse?! If bubs was here already and I lived closer I'd join you too!

Just had to post this link to the american press coverage of this story...

American Article

Check out the photo they have attached to the article! Is this really what they think a public swimming baths in England would look like?!

I was we had a pool like that and the weather!!!

I was expecting more like this....

I'm sure many Americans think we live in cottages or Georgian townhouses and take high tea like an episode of Midsummer Murders......:dohh:

Definitely. Whilst playing croquet and saying "Spiffing. What, what, what."

:dohh: I went to this pool today with holly but they werent letting ppl in cos it was shut cos of an incident

I wish!! It looked more like this

What was the incident?? I hope they werent crying over spilt boob milk again....:dohh:

That is rediculous!!!!
I wonder if this (The 1975 Sexual Discrimination Act created legal protection for a woman under the provision of goods, facilities and services section. This protection covered a woman breastfeeding a child, of any age, by implication, and meant that she could not be discriminated against for breastfeeding in places such as restaurants, cafes, surgeries, libraries etc.) would cover public swimming pools

I would be infuriated if I were her. Stupid wankers! I'm lucky being in Aus, I've bf everywhere that Savannah has needed feeding.

Not all Americans are ignorant, thanks :)

That site with the article is not a real news site it's run be individual people. Which is why they probably just attached any pic they had, not being accurate with the actual picture. Here is another article from here about it

I think the whole thing is ridiculous though, saying the same rule would apply to bottlefeeding moms too. Even if it did that is just a stupid rule, I can understand it being for bringing in outside food but not for babies...breast or bottle..just crazy. I would def do a "nurse-in" there and see what happens. By law it is legal for her to be able to nurse there right? Here it's if the child is allowed there you are allowed to nurse.

Hey honey I dont think that Americans are ignorant!! Far from it!!! No, what I was saying it that I have come across LOTS (and I've been to the states 6 times now all over the place) who have a little romantic notion that England is the how it shown in some of the TV shows that are really successful over there. I know the BBC sell lots of our murder mystery type shows and I'm sure that just backs up the stereo type sometimes. :hugs: Hey I LOVE America! My and hubby want to have a spell living over there when the girls are older - maybe once Emily leaves home. :)
