archie has always been a pain to feed he will take a few ounces 2-3 then he screams the rest of the way thorugh the bottle he goes rigid and just yells and yells even when im winding him...then its a struggle to get him to finish the bottle i usually end up giving him his dummy and waiting 20 mins then trying again

hes also a really cranky baby who hates lying on his back unless hes propped up a bit he also grunts and groans a lot whether hes awake or aseep

ive been putting it down to colic but am wondering if he has some reflux

hes very rarely sick though and i thought this was a sign???

who do i speak to about it and what do they do to look for it?

thanks ladies i dont know what id do if i couldnt post my questions here lol

generally reflux is where the opening to the stomach tube (not sure if thats the correct word) is really lose and doesnt close after feeds!!

I just explained to my hv what happens and the hv saw the milk oozing out of courtney all the time and this is what they said!!

poor archie its horrible seeing them in so much pain :hugs:
have u tried chaning his milk?? the milk could not agree with him?

    Hi there,

My daughter Imogen has reflux and has all the symptons you are describing. The best thing to do is speak to your health visitor, I just described what was happening and then she said about reflux, I knew nothing about it till then I just put it down to colic! The health visitor should be able to precribe you Infant Gaviscon. With regards to being sick, Imogen is very sickly after feeds but I have read there is also a thing called silent reflux which doesn't cause sickness I don't think. Maybe could be that?

Hope that helps a bit and you can get something sorted soon

As Leedsforever has said really, maybe try changing the milk but it could be silent reflux if he isn't really sicky. I'd probably see your doctor about it if a change of milk doesn't work.

    General signs are:

sick after feeds and a long time after feeds (apart from with silent reflux they wouldn't be sicky as the sick comes up partway but not all the way)

    arching of the back

    crying painful episodes

    constant snuffly nose and cough

    hiccups
