im in a bit of a pickle and starting to worry. me and my oh live with my mum and dad and it is a full house i wish we could get our own place but there is no way we can afford it and its gna take years on the council list every 1 is tellin me to pretend we r gettin kicked out but that would mean living in a scummy hostel for god knows how long but basically that is the fastest route but i have too many morals to go and do this its everything i hate ppl thinkin they should get sum where just because they r pregnant but at the same time me my oh and my baby will not be able to stay with my mum and dad for another 7 years (how long it will take on council list) i just dont know what to do. also i will be going on maternity leave soon and my partner is a plasterer and because of stupid credit crunch he has no work and is bringing in no money while i am managing all our bills on my measly 160 quid a week i get from working about 40 hours a week (boss is a ******* that only pays me the very minimum wage) how the hell are we going to manage any ideas any one? any one know any kind of help we can get because once baby is here i wont be able to return to work i will have to look after my son. sorry its so long any advice will be greatly appreciated

Hun I'm not sure bout your housing...have you got a local housing association??? When we had our DS we were lucky and managed to get a flat...Also don't forget you can claim for working tax credit/child tax credit , that should really help you too.... when my hubby was off work we got just over £250 a month to help out...

im not entitled to anything at least untill baby is born and oh is self employed so i dont think he can get anything except the dole which he really dosent want to go on thanks 4 ur help tho

i currently have 13 points lol and houses/flats are going for about 100 odd points i will have a few more points once i get oh on the list with me and once baby is born i should have about 36 odd points (maybe 56 if they say we need an extra bedspace but thats if they count a baby sharing our room as needing a bedspace) and after that it will be just 1 point a month which will still take 2 long

Ohhh Hun what a pickle .

I woudl contact every Housing assosiation in yoru area , They are known to be quicker then the council , And could get you a home as soon as baby is here .

Allso in my area , If you are homeless with a child they will offer you a flat not a hostel . A hostel is a last resort if its an emergency and theres no places .

Try every organisation you can think of hun .

Hey hun in my area what people do is get a parent to write a letter sayin they have 28 days to get out, then council go thru all their procedures and ask if u would like to go thru the private route which is basically findin a flat to rent on ur own that accepts dss then when u find one they fill out some form take it to the council and they either authorise it and pay it for you but if u move out with ur bloke u have to write down his earnings aswell and if he works he will have to pay either all or some of the rent....

But if u work then dependin on how much u earn they will say u dnt need their help so its best to wait till u on maternity leave...x
