Hi

Firstly, I apologise, cos I have nicked this idea from a thread in 2nd trimester but I know I won't keep up with it in there - sorry!

We currently have a 2 seater Audi TT so need to get a new one before baby comes along. Whilst that's not for a while, seems better to do sooner rather than later cos have a feeling someone is more likely to want to buy our convertible with summer coming up rather than when we are wondering whether it will snow or not in Nov/Dec!

Really can't think of what we want - hubby is into cars and engines and stuff so does have quite strong views on these things.

Just wondered whether everyone else already had practical cars, or no car at all (not an option for us as we live 10 miles out of town)....

My OH half has a 5 dr golf GT TDI and i have 3dr Focus RS, we have my car for sale and are on the look out for an S-MAX as we have 2 boys already!

we had a old rubbish escort and the day after my due date we got a laguna more of a family car lol

We bought a new car due to LO being on way. We had a 3-door Opel corsa, which we sold and have bought a 5 door Toyota Rav - everyone advised the 3 door would be back-breaking in terms of getting the car seat in and out. Also we live in South Africa and the corsa did not have AC which gets pretty stifling on long journeys...

xx

We have agolf TDI an old one a Mark 3 but OH loves it.

After being in a crash in another Mark 3 i feel really safe in it.

We would only change it for a newer Golf but OH loves the Mark 3 model and he likes to tinker with it too must make him feel more manly.

I would love a big pick up like my dads!!!

Yeah, we're thinking we need a 5 door car. That's part of the problem, we've found a couple of reasonably practical cars that we like but they are only 3 door (eg Audi 3 which only come in 5 door if you get the estate one which we're not keen on) but don't think this is a good idea really....

Oh well, we'll think of something I'm sure and thanks for the responses so far...

Im driving a subaru legacy - the car is big enought according to me... hubby says he wants to get me a station wagon - I hate them! hahaha, I love my car and wounldn't easily give it up!

We'll be changing cars!!

We're a two car family. My hubby has a sporty little number he doesn't want to give up! so that won't change, but my corsa will be upgraded! NO idea what yet?! Maybe something like a mondeo..... I get the boring practical car in our household!

LOL

Neither me or my Oh drive, I have an eye condition that means I cannot drive and he has never needed to learn always having lived in a city.

We cant afford to run a car at any rate...the thing that makes me LOL is that we'll have to buy a car seat regardless or we wont be able to get bubba home from the birthing centre unless we walk!!

ttcbabyno1 - that's the problem we have, have got too used to the nice little car and don't want to feel like we are downgrading but really can't afford to buy the ones that we feel would be an upgrade cos they are about £40k!

Really, I'm just leaving it to him, as long as I feel ok driving it and it'll fit bubs and stuff in then I'll be happy really, we can always get another nice car later one (if we can afford it).

We're like MissCharlie, neither of us have a car. OH can drive but we just cant afford to run a car atm, let alone when Bean arrives! We're going to be borrowing a car seat from my best friend so that we can at least leave the hospital!!

my OH has two cars one a honda civic type R which is useless for car seats! and the other a honda civic which we will be keeping at the moment as it is spacious and two car seats wont be a problem, try as i might he wont get rid of his 'baby' lol the type R :-P

i would love a type r, the oh says he will treat me when he starts makin his millions. could be waiting a while!
do u think i should be changing my car? i drive a clio. i wish i could change it but i dont have the money to.
will that be okay u reckon?
xx

My OH would like a type r too, but don't think now is the time for us to be getting one.

Clio: as long as you can get a baby seat in the back (5 door will make it easier) and can fit the pushchair/pram in the boot you'll be fine, they seem to fold pretty small so it's up to you... You could always change once baby's born if it fills up too quickly

We have a 2001 Aztek ht only seats 4 so we are selling that one. We also have a 5 seater dodge, but it is a bit cramped in the back seat so we are hoping we'll be able to buy a new car before the baby is born.

We both have cars... my OH has a new Ford F-150 Lariat edition truck (beautiful), it's 4 doors with all these bells and whistles so no way are we getting rid of the truck. My car on the other hand is a 2 door Chevy Cavalier that I bought to use for commuting in and out of the city when I was going to college. We are trading it in this weekend and I'm getting a new Ford Edge, I love those SUVs, they are HUGE and soooo nice! :happydance: So excited!

deffo think you need a bigger car lol
it all depends tbh, do you want go on long trips in car, or will only be short trips.
you want to carry alot of stuff in boot or not?
my first car, before i had amber was 3 door clio, boot was great size, it fitted a travel system pushchair and bit of shopping. i then moved onto 2006 clio, bit of a small boot but longer, still fitted the pushchair in, again 3 door.
for the fact i was travelling 250miles every month i needed bigger car, so i got pug 207, 5door, nice size boot plenty of room etc, reasons i got rid was because of the crap gearbox!
in the end i bought megane estate, plenty of room, can transport things, has speed, does good mpg.

ive had 2000 reg and 2006 they are perfectly fine with baby and a bulky pushchair i had good room!

We have 2 5 series bmw's an estate and a saloon. We'd be lost without a 5 door and the estate is so lovely to just bung everything in too!

Oh this is so funny as ive just sold my convertible mercedes 320 ..My joy.....the best car ive had in years, last week....and will be swapping it for a 4 door car of some description havent found one yet...... I always said if i get pregnant, i will find a family car.....
