What car do you drive? And are you swapping it before baby?

I have a 5 door ford focus, with a nice big boot so i wont be changing!! x

Not sure how far we'll be driving yet.

Potentially 25 miles to work and back every day, dropping baby off on the way at grandparents or something (hopefully - not figured that bit out yet).

Will see what hubby comes up with, he won't let us get anything he doesn't approve of (but he wouldn't get anything for the house that I didn't approve first so it evens out)

In my first pregnancy I had a JCW Mini Cooper. Didnt bother me one bit, but then again my pram of choice was the Quinny Zapp and I am verging on being a midget! Kept the mini as my fun car as I find the bigger the car the more rubbish you pack it with. I also have a Saab 9-3 convertible. better boot space but thats about it. Only thing is the depreciating value of cars right now, majority os them are worth less than we owe! arrggghhh.

I've been thinking about this one...

I got a new Golf Plus in January. It's ok, and the extra height is a bonus, I'm just not sure it's high enough for me getting in to do the car seat, or if its got enough boot space.

Hubby and I both had VW Sharans, but it was time to trade mine in. I miss it :(

I've decided to wait until bubs in here and I'm going through the motions with the car to really see what it's like. If I do need to change, I might go with the Touran, meet in the middle.

I was all set for a Tiguan, but they stopped doing them in automatic :(

We have a 05 reg Corsa 5 door and dont plan to change as we only bought it last year!
x

Thanks for the advice girls, we ordered a honda civic at the weekend.

Hubby happy(ish) cos it's the top one (before you get to the type s and the type r that are only 3 door) got so many toys and buttons that I don't think I'll ever understand, think I'll just use as a normal car!

He really wanted the type r, but I kept having to tell him that the suede seats weren't that practical and you don't really want to be driving that hard with a baby on board anyway...

We've got a Merc C230. Only bought it last year and have no intention of changing it (wasn't intending to have any more children either!).
My other 2 children are 12 and 17.
The 17 year old rarely goes anywhere with us. Only ventures out of his room to eat so I can't see it being a problem!
We also have an MR2 - which is not exactly equipped for a baby:rofl:

OH rides a motorbike and we do not have a car so will definitely need to purchase one!!

We have started looking but with the credit crunch people are hanging on to their old reliables and so we're having a tough time finding a cheap car which is still intact!

jealous.

When we've been looking round there are lots of places that are doing 0% finance on new and used cars at the minute.

I know it's not ideal to have another fixed outgoing with a baby on the way (we were lucky, with the TT in part ex, had the money in the bank to pay for it as had been saving up to change the car this year anyway) but it's always worth knowing.......

we had a 3 door micra until DS was 3 months old, then we got a citroen xsara picasso 5 door. I'm glad we did now we have another on the way too!

I was too awkward trying to get a rear facing car seat in and out of a 3 door car....
