As the title asks please!

I'm going to buy DS1 a new car seat, I know I can go to Halfords or similar (and I will) just wondering what kind of seat a 4 year old has, he weighs enough for group 2, but that's all I've worked out. Does he use a seat belt....as he seems too young for that?

Mine has a Britax Kidfix in one car and a Cybex Pallas without the impact shield in the other one. Both are used with the seat belt.

He went into them just before turned 4 when he reached 15kgs and he's been great at sitting properly. He's allowed now to undo his seatbelt when the car has stopped and he always waits until I've undone mine first.

My ds is tall and over 16kg, he's been in a new seat using the seat belt in dh car for about 6 weeks, he isn't 3 yet.
He's still in his harness in my car at the moment just waiting to get another seat but want to get my new car first. He's almost too tall for his seat now and the harness is only rated up to 18kg so we haven't much option.
Xx

Thank you, I feel so silly for not checking sooner, I don't get DS1 weighed often at all anymore so it hasn't occurred to me, it's only as he's turning 4 I suddenly thought. His seat is one of those group 1-3 although my mum originally bought it for her car so I should probably give it back lol, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do to it to make it group 2? He's about 16.5kg assuming he's the same centile as he was a few months ago.

Group 2 is where you take out the harness and use the seat belt, if the harness still fits him at the right place on his shoulders and he isn't over the weight limit for the harness I would wait a while.
Xx

Maddox is in a cossato zoomi 123,
He's 15kg, so has the 5point harness still.
Harness goes til 18kg

Thomas is 4 in December and still in the same seat from being a newborn. It goes to 18kg and he's about 17.1kg so won't need to get a new one until he's 4 I'm guessing. I'll buy what they call a "full backed booster" here and I guess he will be using the seatbelt. The idea of it makes me nervous!

We went for this one, we really wanted an isofix and after looking around went for this one for the harness. Ryan says it's very comfy, he sits up nice and straight and we're really happy with it.

DD1 will be 4 in a few weeks and she's in a Kiddy Guardian impact shield seat. She still uses it with the impact shield for now, but without it the seat should fit her as a high-back booster as long as she needs one, so either 12 years or 140cm I think.

My 22kg 4 year old (yes she weighs the same as a small elephant!) is in a Maxicosi Rodifix.

Good points - lightweight, easy to install on isofix or just with the seat belt, wipes down well, she looks comfy, fairly narrow so allows adult and baby seat across the back.

Bad points - the seat belt guide makes it hard for her to do her seat belt as it is really tough to pull through.

I wanted a seat for her to last until she no longer needed one. She is really tall and the maxicosi is good for that.

We have a Concord High Backed Booster (no idea on model!). It had a high score on Which? and was on offer....so bonus for us! Joshua was 4 and a few months when he went in it.

Owen has a high backed booster from kiddiecare with a five point harness.

We've just bought the Kiddy Cruiserfix Pro, she is currently in the Maxi Cosi Priorifix.
