I am new to this forum and was just wanting to get an idea if anyone can explain the process (if there is one) as to what happens next after you haven't been able to conceive on your own (medically we should have been able to), I'm over 35, have had 2 successful pregnancies 8 & 10 years ago, Clomid hasn't worked and now moving on to a specialist...is there several options out there before IVF? This is all pretty new to me and would appreciate any help!

Thanks,

Jenny

I'm not up with the lingo on here, what is IUI? That may be something that my doctor mentioned to me 6 months ago but I'm not sure.

Thanks,

Jenny

It an actual procedure before IVF.. What they do is you & hubby go to the dr's office & they get his little swimmer & "wash" them and with a catheter like object insert it into your uterus.. basically instead of them having to swim they get them as close as possible.. That would be my next step if clomid doesn't work. My dr. said its done with in a matter of minutes and is just like a pap smear.

I just looked it up and yes this was mentioned to me but I'm not sure if I will be able to afford it because I'm sure my insurance won't pay for it, is that usually the next option? I saw online where the average treatment costs around $900.

Thank,

Jenny

I believe it would be the next option if you tried clomid & that didn't help.. My dr. told me just to do the clomid with iui but I atleast want to try with clomid & use preseed for about 3 months..if that doesnt work then ill move to iui. As far as the price I think it just varys.. My dr. said it would cost about $560 & even offered us to do payment plans but even that is a bit much..

I did clomid for 4 cycles, now we are onto clomid + IUI. For us it is $770
