Well here it goes, I thought I got my BFP, 2 beautiful lines appeared! Then I began spotting.....so I went to the doctor and he wanted to re-test, the result was negative. But he wants me to re-test next week if I don't get my period, but to be honest I don't think I will bother as I'm convinced it must have just been a very light period......

I have decided that I want to go ahead and have further tests to see what the problem is.

So Ladies this is my question, what happens next? I've had the blood work done for progesterone, CD 21 and CD 3 tests, he said they are on the "lower end of normal", what tests/investigations are likely to be next? I've got a consultation next week and I just want to have an idea of what they might suggest the route forward will be.

Thank you in advance

i would re-test hun just to make double sure. it has happened were its been neg then came back pos after a re-test!! Im not sure what your next steps will be as the FS treats everyone differently on history and test results, ive never had a BFP but were both unexplained! after my bloods and all the routine stuff i had a HyCosy and was then put on Clomid! Good Luck Hun xx

My guess would be HSG (the dye test where they check your fallopian tubes for blockage). Not sure what they would do beyond that.

I don't know how you can resist re-testing though!

Whatever they do I hope they wont tell you to wait another year because you had a BFP... Because I did hear stories when couples were about to start treatment, then get a positive, tell the GP and were made to wait another year :nope:

thats happend to me!!!... we've been NTNP for 1 year and then TTC 2 years... ive had 2 chemicals in a row, and we cant get referred for another 12 months now, because ive concieved! :( x

Ahhhh, that's worrying that I could be delayed treatment just because I had a BFP. The official Doctors test came back negative so hopefully it will not count me out for another year.

Babee_Bugs - I'm sorry to hear about your wait, very frustrating! Doesn't seem fair

He wants me to repeat next week (which would make me 6 weeks) I don't see how it would come back positive after all this time but time will tell!!! I don't think I will be able to resist the POAS even though I will know the out come!

Just feel a bit confused, I had some light bleeding/spotting about the time of AF but a BFN after. Very scared about having further investigations, blood tests I can deal with.

thank you for you replys, HSG/HyCosy sounds very invasive, but at least I can have an idea about what they might suggest next week. All this TTC business is difficult, I never thought it would take this long or feel so heartbreaking.

Hm, if you've had hormone tests at the lower end of normal, maybe you can ask for clomid to help you ovulate better (and maybe even progesterone post ovulation)? No further tests are needed for that and you'd know whether it's working within a few months. Plus, it is a cheap option for your doctor :D

I'm hoping that all I shall need is a few tablets! Thank you ladies xxxxx
