What cup should I use?

Hi, I am starting to give water through a cup but should I use a free flowing cup or one where he has to suck to get the water out?
I thing my HV said that free flowing one's were better for their gum's, is that correct?
Also have all cups got a hard spout or do some come with a soft spout like a bottle teat?

I have always used a free flow Tommy tippee with a hard spout. It's good as it teaches them how to drink from a fast flow. She started off by just gumming it and letting the water trickle out of her mouth but after weeks of trying she finally got the hang of at and loves it!
