Earl has had the same pattern since 3 months. We introduced a dream feed and it worked a treat and apart from during bad bouts of growth/teething, he will classically go from 7-10.30 then go back down after his bottle at 10.40-6am. We stopped giving the bottle as a dream feed at about 6 months but he has woken for it on his own since. Occasionally he'll sleep through til about 11.30 wihtout it but he will always wake up.

I'm happy enough with this as there is a block of 7.5 hours and will mostly say yes, he does sleep through. Am I lying?

I count sleeping through as when i dont wake up feeling like a zombie

I'd class that as sleeping through! I would almost prefer the monkey did that rather than sleeping his long stretch from 7pm or so. That way I could feed him and then go to bed and get a solids stretch of sleep myself but I just can't go to bed before 11 or so most nights.

Gosh i havent slept through for 14 years then!!!:haha:

i would say that your lo is classed as sleeping through!

Jenson goes from 8pm until at least 8am x

I would class sleeping through if I didn't get up in the middle of the night. Madelyn goes to bed a 7pm and sometimes wakes at 11 for bottle which is before I go to bed and she will then sleep til 6am and I call that sleeping through. Sometimes she goes to bed at 7pm and wakes about 3am ish and I have to get out of bed to feed her and then she will sleep to 6am. I don't call that sleeping through as I have to wake up iykwim.

I think I could count about 5 times in 8 1/2 months where she has slept from 7pm to 6am without waking at all.

Oh for a full nights sleep :sleep::sleep:

i was reading this article the other day about sleep.in the part headed 4 MONTH OLD SLEEPS THE REST OF THE NIGHT... it says sleeping through is classed as sleeping for 5 hours https://www.babysleepsite.com/how-we-sleep/4-month-old-sleep-regression/

not sure id class 5 hours as sleeping through through lol x

I consider sleeping through when my baby goes to bed around 11pm and doesn't wake me again until 5 or 6am.

The official line is 5 hours so I know my baby has easily been sleeping through since about 5/6 weeks but with a blip over the last few weeks with the sleep regression and teething. I call sleeping through, personally, as a night where I don't get up til early morning rather than in the middle of the night. So if she doesn't wake til 4 she has slept through in my eyes.

I've always thought of sleeping through as LO going to sleep and not waking up again until 6/7am or whenever getting up time usually is. So if they wake for a feed after they've gone to bed then to me it's not sleeping through.

BUT who cares what it's called, it sounds like you've got night time sleeping to work really well!

^^ what Lu says - sounds to me likt Earl is doing wonderfully.

I now think of sleeping through as DD settling easily if she wakes for a feed.

Amelia's been sleeping 8 hours at a time usually 10 or 11 til 7 or 8 for a few weeks now, apparently according to the NHS this is deemed as sleeping through.

You're so lucky, my son doesn't go 4 hours without waking up :dohh:

Sleeping through - 5 hours!!! Not for me it isn't! Even if it's 12 till 5 that's still waking in the night to me.

I'd say your baby is sleeping through, as he's going from a normal bedtime of 10:30-11 (for adults) to a normal wake time - 6am.

Dont' worry! Ethan has always gone down at 7 and used to wake up at 11 then 3 then 7.

At about 5 and a half months he just woke at 11.

At 6 and a half months he started going 7 - 6:30 so it will happen fingers x.

Some of my mates who had baby sleeping through early now have babies who suddenly wake so maybe those babies who sleep through older stay good sleepers!!!

my little one goes from 11/12 till 8 well she does when kids are off school :) im trying to shift it back so shes going down a bit earlier but i class that as sleeping through n same with ur lo as long as your getting 6/7hrs in one go id class that as slepping through

sleeping through to me is sleeping when I want to sleep..so thats 8hrs straight!
lucky for me that our 10wk old has been doing 10.30pm to 6.30am since 6wks and is now managing a sleep from 7.30pm to 10pm...
5hrs in my opinion isnt sleeping through. Personally I would be a zombie or a moody moo...!

Hello

We get usually 11 hours sleeping through but its not every night. May wake for a minute or 2 in the early hours but falls back to sleep quickly. Teething throws all that out the window though.

well Isaac goes to sleep between 7.30 and 8.30 and then we give him a dreamfeed at 11.30. He then "generally" sleeps through until 07.30.

Harrison has a bottle about 8pm then goes to bed and usually wakes up at 3 or 4am then back down til about 9am. So in theory hes 'sleeping through' because hes doing a stretch of more than 5 hours but to me hes not sleeping through because Im still getting up in the middle of the night to give him a feed. I long for the night he sleeps from 8pm til 7,8 or even 6am. To me though, he's never once 'slept through'.
xx
