Really not trying to stir the pot or judging anyone or anything, just honestly curious. I don't use my mouth on my babies stuff but I know some do. Does anyone actually think that counts as sterilizing? Yes, it washes the dirt/hair and other stuff away (which turns my stomach so I'd NEVER do it for that reason alone), but if anything, your mouth would just add even more bacteria then before. Or are you just saying you don't worry about sterilization and that is your way of cleaning the dirt off of the pacifier. I've always been curious about why people would just stick it in their mouths and think that was cleaning it? It's mind boggling to me.
And like I said. Not trying to judge.. everyone feels differently about different ways of caring for their children and I wouldn't want someone to judge me just because we disagree on a child rearing method.

MAM dummies come in little microwave sterilising boxes. We've recently started trying to use them on the advice of the HV due to reflux. I was VERY skeptical but it seems to help sooth him. At the minute we have 8 dummies (4 boxes of 2). If he drops one (even at home) I stick it to one side and swap it. By the end of the day we usually have used at least 2 boxes of dummies so I whack the 2 boxes in the microwave so they're ready for the next morning. I use a clip if he takes one out but generally doesn't. I certainly wouldn't be putting it in my mouth if it fell on the floor... My dog and cat's arses have been on that floor... Bork!

My LO has some MAM dummies but I didn't know you could sterilise them in the microwave! How do you do it? x

Did they come with the clippy box? You pop them in and fill water in the bottom to the fill line, close the box then microwave for 3 minutes. Leave to cool for 5!

I sterilise them every night with any bottles we use that day. (I combie feed - some boob and some formula). I stopped using soap though because I could never get the soapy bubbles to get out of the back of the dummy. I figure the steam steriliser is enough anyway.
