I posted in 1st tri but didn't get much response. So, I figured if I posted here it would be more appropriate.

A friend of mine is 7 weeks pregnant and has started having brown discharge and some tissue discharge. She went in for an ultrasound on monday and the baby measured at 5.5 weeks. There also was no heartbeating yet. Long story short, there's no way her dates could be wrong. Beta level on Monday was 5500 and beta level today is 6500. She got her progesterone level checked today but won't have those results until tomorrow.

She's military and they won't do a scan until next week.

What do you all think? I think the prognosis is not good......

Unfortunately it doesn't sound good for her, especially if the dates are accurate. :sad1:

Hope it all works out!

Maybe post is 2nd or 3rd tri - someone could have gone through this and come out the otherside?

No idea otherwise sorry x

I would say she is fine. I mean, it would have been nice to see the heart beating, but it is too soon for that. I always had spotting in my successful pregnancies.

Hey hon, doesn't sound good really levels should double every 48-72 hours. It's that horrible game again we call 'give it time'. Hope she surprises us all. x

It doesnt sound like its good news.

TBH they generally will it a couple of weeks before they re-scan to make sure that the dates are definatley correct. Its such an awful wait.

I hope Im wrong and all goes well for her.

I hope the best for your friend Vineyard - but I don 't think it looks good right now. It might be too early for a heartbeat - but the fact that the embie is 2 weeks behind is a problem. I wish her the best.

7 weeks isn't too early to see a heartbeat.

Maybe you'd be better posting this in the miscarriage and loss part. After all, they've all been through it.

I agree. I'm not sure this is the best forum for this kind of question?

I wish your friend all the best and hope all is ok :hugs:

I didn't realize there was a miscarriage and loss section. I just know that a ton of the woman in here have been through it and understand what all the betas mean. Sounds like I offended. That was not my intent.

Sorry, I thought you said 5 1/2 weeks.

I guess I sorta did. Ha! She's 7 weeks but things are dating 5.5 weeks. But, her husband was only in town for a short period of time (he's on military assignment in Korea) so she knows she's 7 weeks. Implantation could have been late but not 1.5 weeks late! So, basically she's dating early and hence no heartbeat.
