What does birth smell like?

I am so funny about smells so I'm taking josticks in or room spray! I hate the smell of hospitals!! X

Oh great, another thing to worry about!

I will just ask them to open a window to make sure all smells escape and quickly as possible!

Didnt smell bad! The room had just been cleaned when I went in so there was an odour of milton (typical hospital smell) and when my waters went it smelt sweet. There was a slight odour of blood but no way unpleasant.

To be quite honest, smell is the least of the worries when you are pushing a baby out of your vagina with crippling contractions! I think during pushing I shouted "I don't want to poo myself!" and that was the main thought at the time, but not once did I think "wow, I wish someone would Febreze the room"

I must say, even though I've had a few good laughs at this thread it has been really helpful.
Never even thought about what it could possibly smell like. I mean obviously it's gonna stink if you poop, but I'm sure we're not gonna care in the moment :D

ROFLMFAO

Nope, that's the 1st I've heard! I think if birth really did smell in a normal situation, then everyone would know about it.

It could have been a fast labor and she didn't get time for a shower.. Or a little poop or something. I definitely didnt smell in labor! Most places offer water as pain relief, should keep things smelling fresh. Not like people are gonna get in there sniffing...

I never noticed a smell when I gave birth and my hubby said he didn't either. Maybe she'd poo'd or farted when pushing, it's easy done!

pmsl the last thing you'll be thinking of is the smell? With contractions and ring of fire it could smell like cat pee and you won't care.

I remember when I had my dd it didnt smell while I was having her but once the placenta came it.. That DEF. had a distinct smell.
